Bluetooth Special Interest Group are going to be soon unveiling technical specs on the latest version 3.0. The new version will be quicker then before allowing high speed transfers of data.
It is unknown just yet how quick it will actually be, but no doubt it will be a lot faster then the current 2.0/2.1 standards that are currently in use.
“Transferring an entire music library, a complete DVD, a vacation’s worth of photos, all within seconds at the touch of a button and wirelessly will now be possible.”
The new Bluetooth 3.0 will feature EPC which stands for Enhanced Power Control. What this protocol does is reduces the amount of disconnects that can happen due to low signal problems. When disconnects happen it slows the whole system down. By boosting power when needed it should do away with this problem.
The Bluetooth system will work via 802.11. Nothing else has been revealed just yet and you will need to wait till 21 April 2009 for the full official announcement.
