BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Launches

RIM has just/finally launched a new operating system for the BlackBerry PlayBook. The long overdue update is now available and brings a number of new and most welcomed features to the tablet.

The new version is OS 2.0 and can be downloaded from Settings > Software Updates > Check for Updates. It’s an OTA update, so downloading and installing should be relatively a simple process.

New features it brings to the PlayBook includes native email, calendar and contacts as well as integration with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The Android App player has also been made available in OS 2.0 which allows Android apps to be run on the PlayBook… ie, make it even more useful.

A BlackBerry smartphone bridge is also available in this OS allowing a BlackBerry smartphone to control the tablet such as be used as a remote keyboard as one example.

The update is available for download via the update menu on the PlayBook.
