Benchmark Test of iPhone 4/4S and Nokia Lumia 800

Youtube user 359gsm has run some tests to compare browser speeds on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the Nokia Lumia 800. The iPhone 4 is running iOS 4.3 while the 4S is running iOS 5. The results (unsurprisingly) reveal that the iPhone 4S is the winner. There are a few reasons for this of course.

The benchmark tests performed on each device are Browsermark, Spead Reading, Sunspider, Acid 3 and HTML5.

The iPhone 4S won by quite a bit. This is down to a few things. First is that it runs the dual-core A5 processor and that iOS 5 has been more optimised when compared to iOS 4.3 where the browser is concerned. Also, the Nokia Lumia 800 runs a single-core processor which is a restriction Microsoft currently puts in place from what we understand. Had the Nokia Lumia 800 had a dual-core chip inside it would have fared a lot better.

As for the iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3, it would have been more accurate to test with the iP4 running the same version of iOS which the iPhone 4S was running as already mentioned above, it has a number of tweaks to make browser performance better.

The real test of any device is day to day usage on the websites you visit. With both the Nokia Lumia 800 and the iPhone 4S, each has a fast browser and if you use either of them you’ll be getting some fairly decent results regardless of what the numbers show in the video below.
