ASUS Eee Note 12 Inch Model Due in Jan 2011

ASUS is launching the 8 inch Eee Note EA800 model in the next few weeks. Prices will start at $261 and go up to $293 when it arrives in Taiwan.

Next year, in January, ASUS will then roll out a larger 12 inch model. The 12 inch Eee Note will be officially announced in December and is expected to run the grayscale LCD display that is on the smaller 8 inch version.

We are hearing today that the 12 inch model will run an Intel processor rather than the Marvell processor that runs on the smaller 8 inch version. As for the OS, we hear that it could run some version of Windows although it isn’t clear what will be the best option till we know exactly what screen will be used on the device.

Pricing for the larger 12 inch version is expected to be closer to $900 which is a huge step up from the 8 inch $293 model. All details should become official in the next few weeks and perhaps we’ll also see ASUS put the Eee Note’s on display at CES 2011.
