Apple iPhone 4 – 1.7 Million Sold in 3 Days

Apple [AAPL] has announced that it has shifted 1.7 million iPhone 4 units within the first three days of launch. The time period was from launch day on the 24th to Saturday June 26.

‘This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history, said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. ‘Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.

It’s an impressive amount of phones being sold despite some of the issues that have been noted. We suspect that sales will still high moving forwards.

The iPhone 4 was a departure from the traditional design that has been used on the previous three models. The new model has a glass front and back, a stainless steel set of antennae and it’s the thinnest smartphone in the world. Other new features include a 3-axis gyro to add another level in games and using the phone and it also comes with the newly released iPhone operating system that was renamed iOS 4 which brings multi-tasking and a whole bunch of new features to the smartphone.

We suspect that 2 million sales will happen soon depending on how quick they can get stock out and also believe that by the end of next month, another announcement will be made in regards to another milestone.
