Android Market Hits 10 Billion Downloads

The graph below shows the speed at which Android users are downloading apps on the Android Market. Just by looking at the graph you’ll see that there has been a tremendous amount of growth this past year. In March there were 3 billion total downloads followed by another 1.5 billion by May and another 1.5 billion to July. In December this number has just hit 10 billion total downloads.

The rate which it is currently growing is 1 billion app downloads per month.

To drum up even more interest, Google [GOOG] has announced that it is offering downloads for 10 cents. Google has partnered with a number of Android developers and for the next 10 days (beginning yesterday) and will be offering some of the top titles for just 10 cents. Each day a different variety of apps will be offered at the lower price. Yesterdays apps included “Asphalt 6 HD, Color & Draw for Kids, Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro, Fieldrunners HD, Great Little War Game, Minecraft, Paper Camera, Sketchbook Mobile, Soundhound Infinity & Swiftkey X.”
