Android Ice Cream Sandwich Screenshots Leak

Some screenshots reveal that Android Ice Cream Sandwich has been leaked. The screenshots show the new version of the Android operating system running on a Google Nexus S smartphone.

Several changes include a new notification bar and a new colour scheme. The about screen also indicates that Google hasn’t come up with a version number for the operating system yet although we’ve seen speculation in the past.

Although the changes might not look to be big in terms of what you see in the above screenshots, remember that Honeycomb functionality in some form will be put in this version of the OS.

Other features known include a brand new app launcher and app drawer. This includes what looks to be an app switcher. A new panorama mode will likely be added to the camera. GMail is said to get a complete re-theme.

It is expected that any device shipped within the last year will have the hardware capable of running Ice Cream Sandwich. It isn’t clear if that means ALL devices launched. We also don’t know if older devices will get the update. Also remember that even if an Android device can get Ice Cream Sandwich, it also is likely to depend on what the carriers want to push out.
