Android Ice Cream Sandwich Details Now Available

Google has updated the Android.com website to include details about the new operating system Android 4.0. The new OS is called Ice Cream Sandwich and was released yesterday when the Samsung Galaxy Nexus launched.

The new operating system has been designed for both the mobile and the tablet. Previous versions were Android 2.3 Gingerbread which was generally used on smartphones while Honeycomb 3.X was aimed at tablets. Both are now combined in to one on the new release of the software.

New features include multitasking, rich notifications as well as homescreens that can be highly customised rather than using just a standard grid layout.

Full details of the new operating system can be found over on Android.com.
