X2 Computing are launching the iTablet. The iTablet comes in two flavours which include a 10.2 inch or 12.1 inch screen version. Each version has multitouch capabilities and runs either the Linux operating system or Windows 7.
Powering the iTablet is a 1.6GHz processor and for storage the device has 250GB. For connectivity there is wifi and Bluetooth built in and X2 also provide an optional 3G/GSM module for connecting over mobile networks. Ports on the device include 3 x USB (2.0?) along with a HDMI output. A 1.3 megapixel webcam is also included in the device.
As this device can run the Windows 7 or Linux operating systems X2 are keen to point out that there is support for flash unlike the iPad. The iTablet measures 252mm x 192mm x 35mm and weight starts at 1.18kg going up depending on if you choose the larger screen size and the 3G/GSM module.
The Intel processor running at 1.6GHz includes 2GB of cache and can multitask as required. X2 mention that the processor requires less power allowing for longer use between charges. The main problem I see with it is how thick the iTablet is as it measures 35mm which is a lot larger than the iPad.
