Windows Mobile 7 to go on Show at MWC 2010

The Mobile World Congress event will be starting up soon mid February and we hear at this event Microsoft [MSFT] will be showing off Windows Mobile 7.

Windows Mobile 7 is set to be a major re-vamp of the mobile platform and although it wont be ready for launch at MWC, it is expected that WM7 will be launching towards the end of this year with code being finalised by the summer.

For those of you interested in programming for Windows Mobile 7 the Mix 10 trade show in March will have information for developers to get working on applications for WM7 devices.

“Yes, at MIX10 you’ll learn about developing applications and games for the next generation of Windows Phone,” Microsoft said on the Mix Web site in a Jan. 20 update. “Yes, we’ll have Phone sessions, and we can’t say more…yet.”

Windows Mobile 7 should have been launched already, but because of delays MS decided to give interim updates such as version 6.5 to help with the finger friendly interface that they are aiming for.

As of now we obviously don’t know how WM7 will impact sales of phones with a number of manufactures now making phones with Android as the OS.

We’ll post more details as we get them as MWC.
