The Sharp 936SH is a clamshell style phone that has a solar panel on the cover. Technical specs show that it is a HSDPA/UMTS phone that has a 3 inch FWVGA LCD screen. An 8 megapixel camera can be found on the back that allows it to take some fairly decent photos. Interestingly enough, the phone is also water-proof with an IPX5/7 rating.
However, the main feature is the solar panel that is touted to give about 1 minute of talk time or 2 hours of standby for every 10 minutes of charge. You may think that just 1 minute of talk time for 10 minutes of charge isn’t too good, but when your stuck somewhere without power to charge your phone it’s very handy to have.
The phones are available now over in Japan. As soon as we find out UK and US launch details we’ll let you know.

The solar on the phone cover is awesome. Excited to see these develop in our area soon.
