Over at IFA in Berlin the Panasonic Lumix GF1 was on display. The camera is a Micro Four Thirds camera that has a compact body, a built in flash and can shoot HD video at 720p.
The camera ditches the optical viewfinder and due to the GF1’s small profile it makes it the lightest Micro Four Thirds camera available with a built in flash.
A HDMI output is included that allows you to playback video and pictures on your HDTV. It uses a 4/3 type 12.1 megapixel sensor and has a number of art effects built in such as Expressive, Elegant, Pure, Monochrome, Dynamic Art to name a few as well as a manual mode where you can set up your own style. The other usual features found in Panasonic cameras are included too which see it get face detection, intelligent exposure and an intelligent scene detector.
The Panasonic GF1 is an impressive small camera. It will be launched over in the US next month and cost $899.95. No official details of pricing in the UK has been set just yet.
