Netbook with Optical Drive

mouse comp Netbook with Optical DriveNetbooks are becoming very popular. This is due to their smaller portable size that allow you to take it on the road and easily pack it away. Netbooks tend to be cut down versions of laptops in that they have a smaller screen, smaller keyboard and a lack of optical drive. The lack of optical drive helps cut down the weight and size a little. The Mouse Computer kind of turns this on it’s head though as it has a build in DVD burner!

The Mouse Computer is named the LB-F1500W and has a fully functional DVD burner inside. As well as having an optical drive it sports a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB HD and a 10.2 inch screen that is capable of displaying 1024 x 600 pixels. It runs the Windows XP Home Operating System.

I am not convinced that a DVD burner is needed on a netbook as the idea of a netbook to me is something that is small, portable (which the Mouse book achieves) and only has what you need to use… I very rarely use DVD’s or CD’s on my laptop and would never need to use one on my netbook. With the Mouse Computer having a retail price of $729 it seems quite an expensive device.

I can only imagine the nightmare of trying to burn on something with an Atom processor and only a 1gig of ram.

I have a netbook and can see where you are coming from with the speed of things. Although very handy there are a few times when I wish it would just hurry up a little. I expect later on this year we will see some nice performance boosts though.
