Official Galaxy Tab Hands-On by Samsung

We have seen the Samsung Galaxy Tab in other videos. In the past, the videos have just demonstrated the tablet hardware its self and not so much the software that runs on the Tab other than a few glimpses of a few apps.

An official video uploaded by Samsung yesterday now shows a good look in to how the software works and what apps are provided with the Galaxy Tab. The demo starts off showing the device powered on, unlocked and then a quick run through the scrolling menus. It looks quite smooth and the larger screen seems to work well with the tablet, better than I thought. [Read more…]

Nintendo 3DS Could Land in Japan by November 20

We just came across an article at Nintendo Everything that hints that the release date of the Nintendo 3DS could be as early as November 20 over in Japan.

In a couple of weeks time, Nintendo will be releasing the official price for the handheld games console as well as the launch date for those in Japan, so for now the November 20 date is just speculation.

The information comes from a Keys Factory designer who are responsible for making third party accessories. One of the workers there sent out a tweet saying…

“On November 20th, the 11 goods I designed for use with the 3DS will go on sale simultaneously. Those of you buying the 3DS, please buy them while you’re at it! This will be officially announced on the homepage eventually, lol. Best regards.”

Apple Patent Reveals Clip on Zoom Lens for iOS Devices

Apple [AAPL] might be launching a clip on zoom lens for iOS devices. The information comes from a patent found by Patently Apple that reveals a small attachment that clips to a device such as the iPod touch or iPhone.

We have seen a few different third-party lenses before for the iPhone, but none of them were officially created by Apple.

It is unknown at the moment if Apple will move ahead with the idea, or if it will just stay an idea. We suspect that with the increasing pace that technology changes that a need for this type of lens might be irrelevant if the glass and optics of the small cameras can be enhanced enough within the body of the phone. At the Apple special event yesterday, Apple [AAPL] announced that TV show rentals will be coming in at 99 cents. Amazon has now responded by also dropping the price of many TV shows on it’s service down to 99 cents.

A big difference between the two still remains though in that rentals from Apple are just rentals whereas paying 99 cents for a TV show at Amazon lets you keep the content to watch over again. [Read more…]

Next Gen Apple TV Announced

Apple [AAPL] had a big line up of product launches today. One of them was the Apple TV that attempts to revamp the older Apple TV service.

Design wise, the Apple TV is 80 percent smaller than the previous model which launched in 2006. The new version has a built in power supply, HDMI, Wifi and an Ethernet port. It has no fan inside making it run completely silent.

Rather than having storage built in, the Apple TV streams content whenever you need it. This is why it has both wireless N built in or an Ethernet cable for those who prefer the wired approach. The HDMI cable and power is the minimum amount of cables that you need to get going with the Apple TV. [Read more…]
