Lowrance iWAY 600C with Sat Images

iWAY 600C
The Lowrance iWAY 600C is new in to the GPS market. It looks like this one will do well because of integrated satelite imagery which can be put on to the top of regular road maps. Currently the satellite images are only available in some main cities, but this is a great step forwards and no doubt the map updates that can be done through a USB port will also run updates for satellite images. I am not sure yet if you can upload custom satelite images or OS type maps, but if not then the device has still jumped in to a corner of the market not really tapped in to yet.

The iWAY 600C has the option of 2D and 3D maps and the usual turn by turn voice instructions which we are all familier with. The device runs on a 30Gb HD which can be used to store the images on. The screen is quite large at 5″ and runs at a nice resolution of 640 x 480. Going back to the hard drive, 85% is used for storing satellite images leaving the remaining 15% for updates to use. Hopefully the device’s internal drive can be upgraded as more sat images fill it’s memory, although you might not really need to keep high res images of the whole world if you only plan on visiting a city once. Just upload it for when you are there.

A4Tech Optical Mouse

A4Tech Optical Mouse
The A4Tech Optical mouse is an interesting mouse because it does not require batteries. It is also wireless which is what makes this mouse interesting. Instead of using batteries it is powered by electromagnetic induction which charges from the mouse pad. The mouse pad gets it’s power from the USB connection of your PC and then transmits this power to the mouse to keep it running. I think this is a great idea. Cordless mice batteries do last quite a while, but when they die you tend to not be prepared and have to dash to the shops quickly.

It has a resolution of 800dpi and and might not make it to this side of the world. It is priced at $21 over in Korea.

Rimax Mystic is Very Mystic

MP3 players are coming out all the time. I like some, dislike most because they usually do not add much to whats out now. Every now and again something extra is thrown in and makes you like it. The Rimax Mystic is one of these exceptions.

Rimax Mystic

So what makes the Rimax Mystic so Mystic? Well, it doubles up as a VoIP phone. Connect it to your PC via USB and you have in your hand a very nice looking VoIP phone that is compatible with skype. The Mystic is an ultra slim player that compliments your desk very nicely with it’s features that double it up as a phone.

All we need now is Bluetooth on it and then it can be used with out the old wires 😉 Still, a very promising product.

Prices in the UK range from 56 pounds to 90 for the 512Mb version or the 2Gb version.

LaCie Biometric Drive

LaCie have created a Biometric Drive which has some good encryption built in. It’s an external USB hard drive with a finger print scanner built in. The data is encrypted and it takes 3 succesful swipes of the same finger to allow unencrypted access to the drive. It’s a great idea because anything portable can go missing. The cost of the device is often not even a fraction of the value of what data is stored in it and loosing data can cause headaches because of not knowing who is looking at it.

LaCie Biometric Drive

The biometric reader is Triple DES enabled and is compatible with both the MAC and PC.

The verdict: If you need to feel secure with your data on the go, the LaCie SAFE Mobile USB Hard Drive will do just that, but with costly tradeoffs.

XBox 360 Laptop

For about 2 years I have been visiting BenHeck.com because of his custom made portable gaming system’s he makes. He has custom made many from an Atari 2600 to now an XBox 360. Check out the new laptop below 🙂

The laptop xbox 360 packs a number of things inside it’s relativly small casing such as a HD LCD screen, water cooled custom built radiator. The water cooled radiator allows a smaller form as the heat sinks in the xbox 360 are HUGE.

XBox 360 Laptop

He has added a built in keyboard, wifi and it has a USB connector with 3 ports. The case is made of aluminium. It also has various connectors on the back to connect a variety of other screens if the inbuilt HD wide screen is not big enough for you.
