Tengu
Tengu is a white plastic brick which has LEDs that represent a face. A microphone inside the device picks up sounds and the mouth of Tengu attempts to lip sync with your music. The device is USB powered and either connects to a computer or USB outlet on the wall.
There really isn’t any practical use for a gadget like this at all, but that’s not the point of some gadgets these days. This one is purely for entertainment only. As ThinkGeek puts it “Their approach to gadgetry is to develop the product first, then create the need for it.”
Seven different faces are available to fit your own personal mood. You can find Tengu over at ThinkGeek and he costs $49.95. Doesn’t it get scary when I refer to Tengu as a person?

Lego iPod Dock with Stormtrooper Security
Lego rates as one of the coolest toys ever. The ability to quickly connect little bricks together based on anything you imagine is possible. The creator of this iPod dock clearly had some cool ideas while putting it together. Built from standard Lego bricks, it holds your iPod. Around the back of the device is a USB cable attached to an iPod dock connector which is fastened by glue in to a 4×2 Lego brick. Around the front of the dock a Stormtrooper and another Lego character guard the iPod to keep it save. On the side there appears to be a handle you wind which seems the guys are standing on something that moves although it’s not too clear.
Overall a cool little project which is made all from standard Lego.

HTC P3470 looks Swish!

HTC have introduced their latest smartphone which is heading to the European market. It is the P3470 and measures 108 x 58.3 x 15.7mm. The screen is 2.8 inches and touch screen and the device, as to be expected, runs the Windows Mobile OS.
Features
* Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR
* Quadband GSM/EDGE/GPRS networks
* 2 Megapixel Camera
* 200MHz TI OMAP 850 Processor
* QVGA Screen (Touchscreen)
* 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion
* USB 2.0 connectivity (more then likely used to charge also)
* GPS
On the downside there is no 3G or wireless networking which is a shame. Both of those really do need to be standard for this type of device. If you can get over that then HTC have created a great looking device with a nice amount of features.

Nano Bluetooth Dongle

If a bluetooth transmitter/receiver can fit in your phone then why do USB Bluetooth dongles need to stick out the side of your PC a couple of inches? The nano bluetooth dongle sorts that problem out. It is about the size of a British pound coin and only protrudes enough so it can be taken out of your PC or laptop. This means that it does not need to be removed for travel. It is dubbed as a “plug it and forget it” device. Although it’s very small it does not lack features either and has V2.0 of Bluetooth with EDR.

PC Car Stereo

The Navisurfer II is a complete PC which replaces your car stereo. The screen is 7 inches and runs at an 800 x 480 resolution. The screen slides out from the single DIN stereo and flips up to reveal either Windows XP or a Linux distro. The software running on Windows is configured especially for in car use which means you will see GPS navigation, media player, video player and a cool diagnostics piece of software which can show various things from your engine. Not only do you have the basics in there, you can also hook up other devices such as video cameras for reversing, controllers for playing games and it has USB connectivity too. The spec of the Navisurfer II isn’t too shabby either. A few variations are available which have from 40GB to 120GB of hard disk, 256Mb to 512MB RAM and prices are from $578 to $656.

Overall it’s a nice looking system and will work well in your vehicle.

Cassette to MP3 Converter
While recently cleaning through old junk I came across a number of cassette tapes which I had in the late 80’s and 90’s before I got my first Disc Man. I actually chucked them out thinking I’d never use them again. If I would have come across this device earlier, I might have hung on to them a little longer. The Cassette To MP3 converter is a device which you put your old cassettes in and it converts them to MP3 quick and easily. It attaches to a PC with a USB cable and the device includes the software needed for conversion. The software is used for conversion and breaking up the audio stream in to separate tracks. Noise reduction settings as well as the ability to play metal/CrO2 tapes is also included. The last cool feature is the ability to use the good old high speed dubbing which means you can convert the tracks far further while listening to the music chirp away at speeds several times faster then normal.
The Cassette to MP3 Converter costs $149.95.

The solar panel can be used to charge other devices such as a mobile phone with it’s USB out connection. 4.5V – 9V devices can be connected up. The screen is 3.5 inch colour TFT which is a fairly decent size that can display 1.6 million colours.
