USB Powered Paper Shredder

usbgeek-shredder
With identity theft all around us we must take care when chucking away our documents. The USB powered paper shredder is ideal to get rid of your documents securely. The shredder is portable and will fit in a laptop bag and can be carried around. There are 2 ways to power the device. The first is by USB (which is where it gets the name from), or you can use AA batteries should you not have a USB source anywhere near you.

MagicJack – USB Convertor for Phones

MagicJack
By using a MagicJack USB converter you can use your regular phone to make VoIP calls through your PC. The MagicJack makes use of the YMax voice network which currently covers 75% of the US population with 90% coverage to be expected by the release date later this year. The device costs $39.95 and this includes a 1 year subscription to the YMax phone service which also provides a phone number, voice mail and 911 access. For simple VoIP access from a regular phone this could work out well although it would be nice to make calls out of the US. No doubt this will happen at a later date.

Transformers USB Flash Drives

transformers-usb
Transformers are still alive and kicking. This time they come in the shape of USB flash drives which work on USB 2.0 technology. Two capacities are available which are the 1GB model being the Autobot and the 2GB being the Decepticon. They are quite unique and do look quite cool. With them being USB 2.0 you can expect the usual high speed transfer speeds between the drive and PC. If only they could actually transform though 🙂

USB Airplane Fan

USB Airplane Fan
This little plane is powered by USB. The propeller on the front acts as a fan to cool you down. There is no fear of it taking off due to it being connected via USB (and blowing the wrong way obviously).

USB Plasma Ball

USB Plasma Ball
The Plasma ball has been around for years. They used to cost an arm and a leg if I remember correctly and then they dropped in price quite a bit. For those who need their plasma ball fix you can now get a USB version which works just like a regular plasma ball that is plugged in. The USB port can provide sufficient power to light up the gasses inside and create a dazzling display of plasma type stuff.

The USB plasma ball stands about 6 inches tall and can be switched on and off by either unplugging it or by the switch located on the base. All we need now is the USB Plasma Ball Flash Drive with cosmic data fragments floating around inside.

USB Storage Stone

Storage Stone
NetGurus came across a cool little 4GB USB mass storage device that looks like a stone. Apparently it will share similar properties to an actual stone (meaning it will hurt if you chuck it at someone). Hopefully all that hard protection will push it in to the rugged category of USB devices.

The drive is made from synthetic resin and it will measure 53 x 40 x 25mm. Looks great to me 🙂
