The device has a 2 inch screen which from the video after the jump looks very crisp and clear. The A800 can be used in landscape or portrait mode allowing you to watch movies in widescreen. The A800s battery is quite impressive. It is a lithium-ion battery which claims to allow for 30 hours of audio and 8 hours of video playback. Sony Ericsson PSP Phone

A Patent by Sony Ericsson was filed which credits the rumours of a PSP phone which have been floating around recently. As can be seen in the above patent, the screen can rotate around to be used portrait or landscape. Indications of being able to pause a game to take a call are also mentioned. The screen does look quite large and the phone looks to be a fairly acceptable size although it is hard to tell for sure on the line drawings. Apart from what you see above, there isnt much information. Details of key positions is not clearly showed.
Flexible Sony OLED – Video Demonstration

A few days ago I wrote about a new Sony OLED screen which had been announced on the Sony JP site. I had a question at the time about the response time of the screen and what video would look like. This morning I came across a nice video over at youtube which demonstrates the OLED screen being flexed around while playing video. The results are quite amazing. Just a quick reminder of what this screen actually is and then the video follows after the jump. The OLED screen is sealed in plastic rather then glass like other OLED displays. This allows for it to be flexible. The main reason glass was used was to prevent moisture getting inside and damaging the components that make OLED screens work. The screen on the video has a resolution of 120 x 160 pixels with a pitch of .318mm. The diagonal on the screen is 2.5 inches.
Video after the jump.
Sony Ericsson W999i

Checking over at hothandset they mentioned the almost confirmed Sony Ericsson W999i. Sony have not officially announced it apparently though. There are no specs at all and all we do know is what we see in the image above of the phone which shows it as a slider phone with colour screen and with it being a W range phone it will be a walkman phone.
New Sony Flexible OLED Screen

Sony have unveiled an OLED screen that is flexible. OLED displays tend to be made out of a sealed glass which protects the materials inside from getting moisture on them which can basically kill them. Sony managed to create the screen on to a plastic which allows it to be thinner, lighter and bendable as seen in the image above. The screen is a full colour display also. The prototype is has a resolution of 120 x 169 with a .318 mm pixel pitch. I do not have details on how quick the screen can update (refresh rate) but this is certainly interesting to see this kind of technology appearing.
Sony Vaio TZ Shipping Soon

The Sony Vaio TZ is a nice laptop which is light, sleek but still powerful. What you will get is a Sony Vaio TZ90 which comes at a price of $2299 and has a 1.2GHz processor which is an Intel Core 2 Duo U7600 which is an ultralow voltage processor. As well as this you get the option of either a 160GB hard drive or a 32GB solid state drive. In face, you can choose to have both. Choosing the SSD would give you less space, but would increase durability and battery performance due to it being lower voltage with no moving parts inside. Also an integrated DVD burner is included in the tiny package. The screen size is just 11.1 inches which is illuminated with LED backlights. Looking at the size of the screen you can immediately tell that this laptop is very mobile and allows for easy carrying around. It weighs just 2.3 pounds.
Sony VAIO TZ Notebooks – Leaked Photos

Sony are launching some new 11.1 inch laptops named the Sony VAIO TZ. Two of these notebooks have been created which are the TZ11MN/N and TZ11XN/B. Both notebooks look great with one boasting a silver lid. Other differences are the amounts of memory, disk and processor. I have to say that both of these notebooks do look rather nice although I can imagine the price tag would be rather nice too 😉

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S800

The DSC-S800 is Sonys latest Cyber-Shot camera which features an 8.1 megapixel CCD and a 2.5 inch TFT LCD. The lens is quite powerful as it is a 6x optical zoom. Speed of the camera is rated up to ISO 1250 which allows you to capture fast moving action quite well. As well as the 6x optical zoom the camera has 12x digital zoom with macro mode. Overall it seems to be a well balanced camera with features for most situations. One more picture after the jump.
Tiny HD Camcorder from Sony

Sony who the kings of making things small have been working on a new Camcorder named the Handycam HDR-CX6EK. This is a HD (high definition) camera and weighs just 370g without the battery. The lens is by Carl Zeiss and is capable of a nice 10x optical zoom. To store all this data it uses Sonys own format which is the Memory Stick DUO which currently maxes out at 8GB. With the 8GB stick you can still store 1 hour of 1080i video and up to 3 hours on the lowest quality. The camcorder can also be used as a camera and it snaps shots at 6.1 mega pixels.
As well as being small and powerful the camera does have some other cool features. It has Face Index which detects faces and can highlight faces with in a picture which we assume can automatically zoom or follow around.
The camcorder will cost around $1200+ when launched in July and no date is set for a UK launch yet.

Sony Ericsson P700i

Sony Ericsson create some great looking phones. With the W (Walkman) range of phones coming out quite regularly I had actually forgotton about the P series of phones. I used to own a P900 a few years back and think it’s an excellent device. When I heard of the P700i being spoken of I thought I best take a quick look. Mobilecowboys managed to get some pics of this upcomming phone which as can be seen it features a QWERTY keyboard, although there are 2 letters per key. The screen is a 320 x 240 colour screen and various communications are supported although full specs are still a little unclear. If Sony can get this one released then it will be another Sony Ericsson to watch out for.

Sony Ericsson W660i

The W660i is a Walman phone introduced by Sony Ericsson. The phone is a 3G phone and benefits from higher speed transfers of data as well as the ability to make video calls. With it being in the W range (meaning Walkman) its boasting feature is music. The walkman range make excellent MP3 players. The software which runs the music side is Walkman Player 2.0.
As well as being a great phone for music the W660i has a 2 megapixel camera built in. Unfortunatly I think 2 megapixel is old now with 3.2 being popular as well as 5 megapixels on phones such as the Nokia N95. The screen runs at 176×220 pixels (TFT) and capable of 262k colours. The phone doesnt have too much memory (just 16MB) but there is support for Sonys Memory Stick Micro M2 card.

Sony Vaio G Laptop – A Winner

Sony have been in the laptop market for years producing ultraportable and very slim devices. The VAIO G model is no exception. What stands out first is the weight of the laptop. It is just 1.98 pounds. To get this weight so low it is built out of carbon fibre and has a small form factor, is very sleek and looks the business. The laptop as mentioned above is ultra portable which has a 12.1 inch screen. The small screen does not sacrifice too much resolution though and it can still display an acceptable 1024 x 768 which is still a very popular screen resolution and very common among 15 – 17 inch monitors.
The processor comes in 2 types. First is an Intel Core Solo U1300 running at 1.06GHz and the second option is a U1400 running at 1.2GHz. Memory can be increased up to 1.5GB which is DDR2 type memory. The harddisk can store 80GB of data and there is a built in DVD burner. This size of laptop is aimed at the frequent traveller who wants power, but small size to carry around. The VAIO G does just what it should. Communications comes through 802.11a/b/g wireless and for security there is a built in biometroc fingerprint reader.
