Google Nexus Tablet Could be Built by LG

Information provided by Mobile Review hints that Google is looking to make a Google Nexus Tablet device. The company who has been given the task of creating the Google branded tablet is LG.

If LG go ahead and make it, the tablet will follow on from a couple of smartphones with the first being built by HTC (Nexus One) and the second being a Samsung device called the Nexus S.

Right now, it isn’t clear if Google will use the Nexus Tablet externally and make it available, or if it might be for internal development only. [Read more…]

Nexus One and S Android 2.3.3 Update Released

Google is beginning to roll out Android 2.3.3 to the Nexus S and Nexus One smartphones. This will bring both models up to the very latest version and bring new features to each device.

One thing to note is that the Nexus S is more advanced than the Nexus One in that it has NFC built in. This particular Android 2.3.3 update is mainly for updates to NFC in terms of being able to write to tags instead of just reading like in 2.3. [Read more…]

Google Nexus S Reboot Issue To Be Soon Fixed by OTA Update

Those of you who own a Google Nexus S that has random reboot problems, Google has provided an update saying that a fix will be available in the next two weeks.

Google will push out an OTA (over the air) update to Nexus S devices as explained by Ry Guy on a Google Mobile Help Thread.

The initial results of our tests look very promising. At this rate we will most likely be rolling out an OTA to resolve this issue within one to two weeks. We really appreciate your patience as we do our final verifications on this fix before sending it out.

Nexus One Android 2.3 Update Coming Within Weeks

The tweet above was actually sent out on December 20th 2010 which basically suggests that the Nexus One should get the Android 2.3 update within weeks. A few weeks have gone since then and according to ComputerWorld, the Nexus One Android 2.3 update is getting ready for launch.

Google’s answer: Don’t worry — it’s on the way. A representative from the Android team tells me there have been no unexpected hurdles and that the rollout should be starting soon.

Nexus S Overclock Sees 1.2GHz Speeds

Members of the XDA Developers forum have managed to overclock the Google Nexus S up to speeds of 1.2GHz.

The factory rating of the Hummingbird chip that it uses is 1GHz, so the 200MHz increase is very welcomed for anybody wanting to speed up their new Nexus S smartphone. [Read more…]

The Google Nexus S has only been out a week or so, but already has its first OTA update being pushed to it from what a number of users are reporting on the XDA-Developers forums. What we know right now is that the update has a few bug fixes within it as well as a map update.

Nexus S Video Calls Made Possible with Tango

When Google [GOOG] launched the Nexus S a week or so ago, it became apparent that the front facing camera could not be utilised for video calling due to software not being updated (such as Google Talk and other apps).

Good news is that the Tango app has now received an update that brings video calling to the Nexus S smartphone. The application is free and comes with an update note saying that it now supports the front facing camera on the Google Nexus S. [Read more…]

After a 2 day delay, the Google Nexus S is now available in the UK to buy. The Nexus S is currently available at the Carphone Warehouse where a couple of different price points are available. Nexus S Rooting Encouraged by Google

An interesting article went live at the Android Developers website yesterday called “It’s not “rooting”, it’s openness “. What this is referring to is the ability to customise Android based smartphones as users with rather than forcing them to break in to the device.

The post at Android Developers was inspired by a comment made at Engadget that said “Nexus S has been rooted, let the madness commence!”. A comment then went to say that Android security was bad and that’s why the Nexus S was rooted so quickly. [Read more…]

Google Nexus One Android 2.3 Update Coming Soon

Google [GOOG] has announced that the Nexus One Android 2.3 update will be arriving soon. In a tweet that Google sent out, it said that it would be here in the coming weeks.

When the Nexus S and Android 2.3 were first announced there was a bit of confusion in people thinking that the Android 2.3 update was being pushed out. It turns out that those reports were incorrect and that Nexus One owners were just getting a small interim update to fix a few bugs. [Read more…]

Nexus S Release Date Delayed in UK – Now December 22

We all expected that the Carphone Warehouse would have the Google Nexus S ready for sale today. However, the release date for the smartphone has now been shifted a couple of days from the 20th (today) to the 22nd December.

No official reasons have been given for the delays although we suspect its the weather that simply delayed shipments from reaching Carphone Warehouse stores around the country over the last few days. [Read more…]
