Google Phone Nexus One Specs Revealed

We have heard a lot recently about the Google Nexus One (N1) which has been rumoured to be launching soon. Finally we have the official specs to go along with what looks to be a fantastic phone.

The Nexus One will be a tri-band phone (900/1700/2100 MHz) UTMS and quad-band GSM which allows it to work on the T-Mobile network in the US. Features include a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen that according to one person who had a look at the phone said it was the best looking screen they had seen. [Read more…]

Nexus One QR Code Scanned

Yesterday we came across a few more pictures of the Nexus One. One that stood out was the N1 pictures here which had the QR code revealed on the back. Previously this image was covered with post-it notes so nobody knew what was behind it.

After a bit of scanning and searching someone has managed to decode the barcode pictured on the back of the phone. The code takes you to a web address of this which is a game for the Nexus One Google Phone. If you visit the link from anything but a Nexus One phone you are just redirected back to the home page of the Android website. However, someone has managed to work around this to let you play the game elsewhere. [Read more…]

Google Phone – Nexus One Hands-On

Gizmodo managed to get to spend some time with the Google Phone AKA Nexus One. The N1 is built by HTC and is described by Gizmodo as being a Motorola DROID killer in all ways. The phone has no physical keyboard making it very thin. It’s fast and managed to beat both the DROID and iPhone in web page load speeds consistently.

The screen on the Nexus One (N1) measures the same as the DROID but has been described as looking amazing. The blacks are blacker and the colours are more vibrant making the whole visual experience far better.

The Nexus One currently runs Android 2.1 and overall it runs faster than the DROID. There are no official numbers on the CPU at the moment but Giz believe it to be a 1GHz processor inside providing a more snappy user experience. [Read more…]

Google Nexus One Lacks Multi-Touch

Google-Nexus-OneTnkGrl managed to check the Google Nexus One phone out recently and spotted a few interesting things. One of the main features lacking on the phone is multi-touch. It seems that the phone does not allow for it. I am sure that some clever folk will managed to figure a way to get it working though so that’s no biggie although it would be nice to see it function out of the box.

On the plus side, the phone is extremely thin, has a fairly decent battery capacity of 1400 mAh. It has an OLED screen from what tnkgrl mentioned. It is unlocked for now (that might change) and has a super snappy interface. [Read more…]

Google Nexus One Video

Google-Nexus-One-VideoTheNexusOne website have posted a few videos of the Google Nexus One. Unfortunately they don’t really show anything too interesting other than a boot up animation and what the home screen looks like. However, it’s still good to see what the phone looks like on video rather than relying on just pictures.

Check out the two videos below to see a brief view of the phone. [Read more…]

Google Nexus One Photos

GN-1BGR managed to get hold of a couple of Google Nexus One photo’s. The first seen above and below shows the profile vs that of a T-Mobile G1. As can be seen, the Nexus one is very thin. Some things to note here is that the G1 does have a physical keyboard though that does add a little bulk.

The second picture shows a nice crisp screen showing the home screen icons. [Read more…]

Google Nexus One Phone gets FCC Approval

fcc_google_nexus_one_labelI’m guessing there will be quite a lot of information today about the Google Nexus One phone over the coming days and weeks. The next information to be revealed shows that the Nexus One has had approval by the FCC. In this case there is only the image above that shows what’s happening at the moment. What the image does confirm is that the phone is called the Nexus One (see NEXUSONE) and that it has a microSD slot along side the SIM card slot.

According to the FCC filing the phone has UMTS/HSDPA along with quadband GSM/EDGE and can support both AT&T and T-Mobile in the USA due to triband 850/1700/1900 radios. [Read more…]

Google Phone Called Nexus One

Google-NexusOneLate last week, Google [GOOG] handed out new phones to some employees which some are calling the official Google Phone. The phone is actually called the Nexus One and runs the Android 2.1 operating system that offers a few enhancements over what the DROID uses, ie, Android 2.0.

The phone is similar in looks to the HTC Passion although it’s a little slimmer. For now, it runs on the T-Mobile network as well as using WiFi.

In Android 2.1 there are new 3D elements to be found in the app tray along with a new grid icon that can be used to get a preview of all the home screen pages (which also have been increased in number to allow for more icons to be stored). [Read more…]

iPad mini estimated build cost is $189.32

Well, I can’t say I expected to see something written about the build costs of the un-announced and only rumoured iPad mini… but today, I see that someone has added together the cost of all the leaked parts and estimated that it will cost Apple $189.32 to built each iPad mini.

The iPad mini has been rumoured to cost $299 when launched… and I will add “if launched” to that as it has been rumoured each year since 2010 without being launched yet.

Next 7 tablet in-car mount

The Google Nexus 7 is the perfect size for using as a media device in a car. The 7 inch screen allows it to almost fit in a double DIN dash. This is the second in-car installation we have seen although this one is the least intrusive as the casing to hold the Nexus 7 in place simply attaches to the standard dash with magnets. The other Nexus 7 installation required some modifications to be made to the vehicle.
