Several HP netbooks have gone on sale over at Amazon today that see the various models dropping in price in some cases by over $100.

Included in the sale are eight variants of the HP Mini 210 series with a ninth being on sale which is the HP Mini 311. Although 8 different model variations are included in the sale, there isn’t much between them other than a bit more storage space and some have 802.11b/g while others also include wireless n. ASUS Eee 1005PR Intel Atom N450 Netbook

ASUS are continuing to expand their Eee range of netbooks by launching the ASUS Eee 1005PR netbook. The 1005PR is based around the ASUS 1005PE and has a 10.1 inch LED backlit screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The netbook has a Broadcom BCM 70015 HD decoder built in allowing to to recreate HD content in 720p.

The 1005PR netbook is powered by an Intel Atom N450 processor. The netbook has 1GB of DDR2 memory built in that can be upgraded to 2GB if required. For storage it has a 250GB hard drive along with 500GB of ASUS online storage that can be utilised.

For connectivity it has 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. In the bezel of the screen is a 0.3 megapixel camera. [Read more…]

Sony Vaio M Series Netbook Unveiled

Sony Insider have managed to track down some details of a new Sony Netbook range called the Sony Vaio M Series. The Vaio M series netbooks are similar to the Vaio W Series.

The Vaio M Series come with a 10.1 inch screen that’s backlit by LED. A resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels is found on the screen. The netbook runs an Intel Atom N450 CPU running at 1.66GHz. Memory wise it has 1GB of DDR2 and for storage a 5400RPM 250GB hard drive. [Read more…]

Averatec N1200 Netbook is Thinnest and Lightest

Averatec have unveiled the Averatec N1200 netbook that claims to be the thinnest and lightest on the market.

The netbook weighs 2.2lbs and measures just less than an inch thick. The netbook has an Intel Atom N450 processor allowing it to be a little quicker than older netbooks and also have a better battery life thanks to the power efficiency of the N450 CPU although it must be a tiny battery as it only gets about 3 hours per charge for some reason on the smaller capacity battery. The extended battery doubles that to 6 hours.

For storage it has a 160GB hard drive. Memory wise it has 1GB of RAM built in that can be upgraded to 2GB. For connectivity it has WiFi that can connect up to 802.11n networks. [Read more…]

ASUS Eee 1001PQ Intel Atom N450 Netbook

ASUS are launching a new Eee PC called the ASUS Eee 1001PQ that is aimed at children. The new netbook is an update from the MK90H that was “Disney-inspired” and is now upgraded to run an Intel Atom N450 CPU.

The new netbook is being launched at CeBIT this week and will come in a couple of different colour combinations which includes Yellow/Black and Black/Purple. As well as being colourful on the outside the inside palm rest is also coloured to match the outer casing.

Palm webOS 1.4 goes to Sprint, O2 and Movistar Networks

Yesterday, Palm released webOS 1.4 for the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi which brings a number of bug fixes and enhancements to the devices.

Now the update has been officially announced on the Sprint network (as reported yesterday) along with the O2 and Movistar networks. The download is 39MB in size and brings video recording as well as flash (Palm Pre only) to the smartphones.

Other networks are having to wait a little longer such as Verizon, Bell and Telcel with the only time scale being mentioned as “soon”. Hopefully these networks will built and push the update out soon. [Read more…]

Acer Aspire One Netbook Deal of the Day

The Acer Aspire One netbook currently has a discount over at Amazon who are giving $75 off the full pricing bringing it down to $254.99 with free shipping.

The Acer netbook runs the Intel Atom N270 processor that is clocked at 1.6GHz. 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM memory is included along with a 160GB SATA hard drive that spins at 5,400 RPM. For connectivity the netbook has Wireless 802.11b/g.

Samsung N150 LTE Netbook Announced

Samsung have unveiled their Samsung N150 LTE netbook that has a 10.1 inch WSVGA screen and an Intel Atom N450 Pine Trail processor. The new netbook’s screen has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and is backlit by LED. The netbook has the option of a touchscreen if desired.

RAM on the N150 netbook is set at 1GB and for storage it has a 250GB hard drive. For connectivity the netbook has Bluetooth and wireless LAN. 3G connectivity is also being made available.

Three different operating systems can be chosen from when ordering the Samsung N150 which are all Windows based. You get the choice of Windows XP Home, 7 Starter or 7 Home Basic. As well as the 250GB hard drive mentioned above, the actual netbook comes with a 160GB drive with the larger 250GB being optional. [Read more…]

Samsung Chrome OS Netbook Confirmed

Samsung have confirmed that they are currently working on a Chrome OS based netbook that could launch late this year. The Samsung Chrome OS Netbook won’t be added to their current lineup until late this year which could mean a launch later on this year, but also possibly in to 2011.

Although many of the official specifications are unknown at the moment, we have heard that the Chrome OS netbook will have a 12 hour battery life. For connectivity it will have all the usual built in which includes wireless and 3G connectivity. It’s hard to say what variation of wireless will be installed, but I expect in 10 – 14 months time that we should see 802.11b/g/n as standard to get the best connectivity speeds possible. ASUS Eee 1005HA Intel Atom N270 Netbook Discount

Amazon have a good deal on the ASUS Eee 1005HA netbook running Windows 7 Starter. The processor running in this particular Eee 1005HA is the slightly older Intel Atom N270 that was super-ceded about a month ago by the Intel Atom N450 processor, but for doing web browsing and checking emails and such the N270 works very well. The ASUS Eee 1005HA has an 8.5 hour battery capacity which almost provides a day of work under less strenuous usage. The screen measures 10.1 inches and the keyboard measures a decent size compared to a full sized keyboard (usually 92% – 95% on the ASUS models. [Read more…]

Symbian Tablet and Netbook a Possibility

This week the Symbian Foundation announced that the sourcecode for Symbian devices was now completely open source. To achieve this about 20% of the 200 or so 3rd party developers had requested their code be stripped out due to now wanting to open-source their code.

The information on this was revealed in an interview with Symbian Foundations chief where the future of Symbian was discussed. One of the more interesting points in the interview was where the question was asked about the possibility of Symbian-based tablets and netbooks to which the answer came…

“It’s very likely that, in the next year or two, you would see such a product hit the marketplace. A lot of companies are experimenting with PDA-tablet-style form factors, also for stereo systems, and internet-connected devices running low power on primarily ARM architecture ” we do get occasional interest for a few of those.” [Read more…]
