Seagate have created D.A.V.E which interpreted means Digital Audio Video Experience. D.A.V.E is a small pocket sized hard drive which has 3 connectivity options built in which are USB, Wifi and Bluetooth. What this drive does allow that other drives do not, is carry much more data around with you and leave it in your pocket while you access it. It will allow you to carry an entire music collection, many photo albums, a number of movies and countless documents. When connected to the drive you can simply browse it like you would a memory card inside a portable device. Security is obviously a basic demand of any consumer therefore for those of you conscious of ensuring personal data is secure, the bluetooth function requires that you pair the device before it will allow any data transfers to occur. We can assume the wireless features also feature encryption keys, but this has not been confirmed yet. More details after the jump.

From 3G on to 4G
Over the last few years we have experienced the highspeeds of 3G mobile phone networks. This technology has allowed our mobile devices to communicate at broadband speeds which allows streaming video and audio as well as video calls. China has now stepped up and created the worlds first 4G network which steps up data transfer speeds even higher. The project is being run by FuTURE Project and expect speeds of up to 100 megabites per second which is a lot faster then the 3G speeds. This network seems like it will not be public yet and just used for trials for a few more years yet.

Nokia E65 Slider

This 3G phone is the next in Nokia’s powerful lineup of phones. The display is capable of 16 million colours with a nice 352 x 416 resolution. Memory is at 70Mb for internal and of course, expandable via a microSD card slot. Connectivity is not lacking here either. GPRS, EDGE and UTMS can connect this device to a network as well as wifi, bluetooth 2.0 and IRDA (who uses that any more?). This phone seems to be a great option in the slider range of phones. Quad band GSM also means that this phone can be used anywhere.

iPhone Review – The other iPhone

The other iPhone from Linksys was recently reviewed by the tech lounge. This iPhone is the CIT300 dual mode Skype phone and the review shows that the iPhone is an excellent device. The CIT300 costs around 80 – 90 dollars shipped and can use both SkypeIn and SkypeOut which allows you to call out of the skype network and also receive incomming calls from outside the skype network. The CIT300 phone seems to do what it should according to the review and has all the features that are expected in a VoIP phone. The only problem with the CIT300 is that it does require your PC to be on while using the service. However, if you choose to go for the CIT400 then this can be used over wifi and is totally indipendent.

Pharos GPS 600 Review
UberGizmo were lucky enough to get their hands on a Pharos GPS 600 for review. The phone features a 2.8 inch display, has a matte aluminium finish and is powered by Windows Mobile 5. As the title of the phone suggests, GPS is built in in the way of a SiRFStarIII chip and the Pharos software called Ostia utilizes this very well. Integrated GPS is finding it’s way on to a few phones these days and it is very welcome as having this in your phone means that it’s less to carry and more functionality in your pocket. Connectivity is not lacking either and GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth and Wifi are all built in providing some very nice access to the internet from any location. Unfortunatly this is not a 3G phone though. With a nice array of features this mobile/gps device is well worth checking out when it arrives in the shops next month. For the full review, check out UberGizmo.

The Torian Infusion is a sweet looking MP3 player. For some reason it has been a while in the making and was first revealed at CES a few years back. The Torian Infusion as well as playing MP3 is capable of tuning in to your favourite FM stations, but this doesnt stop here. Using built in Wifi you can now connect to the internet and listen to radiostations by streaming the data to the infusion. To add to this, you are able to record this music to an SD memory card. The player will retail for 229 dollars.

Oops – I forgot to turn the oven on

If you have ever forgotten to turn the oven on, or off and realise when you are no where near home then this oven is for you! The TMIO Intelligent Oven is a smart oven which can be controlled by the internet, PDA or mobile phone and allows you to send a message to it and tell it to switch on, off and do what ever you want. Of course you will need to prepare the food before hand and put it in there ready for cooking… but it is a nice addition to your kitchen should you need to wait back for a meeting and want the food cooking later in the day rather then when you thought you would be home.
If only it could do your shopping and make the food for you 🙂

LG SH110 Slider

LG’s latest multimedia slider is another cool looking phone and one not to be passed. It features a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, WCDMA, HSDPA and MP3 capabilities. By having HSDPA capabilities this allows you to surf the internet at a nice 1.8mbps which is more then enough currently for a mobile phone and will open up more possibilities for smooth streaming of audio and video. With having 2 cameras built in you can use the front facing camera for video calls.

Nokia N93i

The N93i is one of the latest phones from Nokia which has a 2.4 inch QVGA screen, sleek metal casing, a 3.2 megapixel camera which is a Carl Zeiss lens. Along with this is 50Mb of built in memory as well as miniSD. A cool feature of this phone is the built in Wi-fi which is starting to appear in a few of Nokia’s latest phones. The wi-fi supports 802.11 b/g which allows for cheaper access to the internet when you are in a wireless hotspot. UPnp technology is also built in.
The video below shows the phone in action and looking at it shows that this phone could become a great seller. Beware that the video doesnt have any commentry, but still shows a comparison as well as some of the features.

SolidDrive – Speakers

The SolidDrive is a device which turns many objects in to speakers by using high-powered neodymium magnets. When attached to a wall or surface it will create noise from that surface and make it appear that the actual wall is making the noise. One good use for this is show windows to grab people’s attention. I have seen these, or something similar out for a number of years now at the local toy shop and when you walk past it grabs your attention by talking. It’s cool to see happen. I guess they wont be too much use yet for many people except for in special circumstances, but the potential is there to create many things from them. If they could be made a lot smaller then they could be put anywhere to make some noise.
The speakers cost $500 each… so spend wisly!
