MS Windows XP in your Pocket

The USB flash drive has become more useful over the years with devices such as the VPhone from Vonage allowing you to carry around a land line which can be loaded up on any computer with internet access. With the rise of memory storage capacity also come other uses such as this Windows backup OS on a flash drive.
Put your self in this situation. You are out on business and you load up some software containing a virus which destroys part of your Windows XP OS. Being out of the road and having no access to the internet on another PC would make it very hard to fix this issue. Having a bootable flash drive running Windows XP would solve this problem for you. Using Bart PE Builder you can create a very handy flash drive with OS and plenty of utilities which could save your laptop a lot quicker then sending it back to the IT dept to fix.
Eye-Tracking Device watching your moves

This next item reminds me of the minority report where your eye gets scanned and the store knows who you are, what you like and displays ads to suit. The eyebox2 was created by a Canadian professor who developed a system to count how many people looked at his ads. It uses infra red and recognises the familiar red-eye effect found in photos. By emitting infrared the system can track what you are looking at while walking around a store and exactly what shelf you looked at or what screens you looked at. It can scan from up to 10 meters away and about 2 – 3 meters horizontally too.
New UMPC From Korea – Tango Wings

The latest UMPC coming from Korea is the Tango Wings. This UMPC has GPS built in as well as a full keyboard. A webcam is also included and it runs the latest OS from MS named Vista. I have no clue what its called Tango Wings, but do not let the name put you off. This UMPC actually looks quite nice from the picture abobe. It features a 6.5 inch WVGA screen and a 30GB hard disk which is just 1.8 inches in size. Network connectivity is provided by wireless running at 802.11 b/g standards or via a standard RJ45 ethernet port. When running Windows Vista you need to have a decent amount of RAM and the good news is that Tango Wings doesnt lack here either. It has 768MB built in.
Scary Old Mice

Can you imagine having to use a mouse like this? It looks like it is dated from years back. The mouse today isnt too different from it though to be fair. Most have dropped the middle button for just 2 on the top front, but also now we see more scroll wheels and thumb controls down the side of the mouse as well as less wires and no mouse ball. More mouse pictures from that era are available after the jump.
Near Field Communications – Your Mobile Phone as a Credit Card
Near Field Communications (NFC) allows a mobile phone to be used as a credit card by swiping the phone over a plate on a vending machine for example. Of course any machine that accepts it will need to be modified to accept payment via this method. As the mobile phone over the last few years has become more popular and converged with other devices such as cameras, radio, video players and web browsing it makes sense that the wallet also be combined with it since you carry your phone around most places you go.
YouTube Camcorder – The Pure Digital Flip Video

A camcorder has been created to make uploading your home made videos to YouTube easier for the less net savvy people. The camera is a small white device which can fit in the palm of your hand and features a USB connector. The basic idea behind it is that you record a video, plug it in to your PC and the video is automatically uploaded to YouTube. 1 more picture and pricing after the jump.

Channel Bonding ADSL – 144Mbps

Channel bonding is a method used in networking to increase reliability or increase throughput on a connection. By combing 2 or more channels of data together you can reach faster speeds, or decrease downtime due to the second channel taking over when the first dies. Ambit Broadband have released information on their channel bonding cable modem which allows you to connect 3 ADSL connections to it allowing for a current maximum download speed of 144Mbps and a maximum upload speed of 30Mbps. This is a nice increase on the standard low XX speed figures we are used to seeing. Just remember that you will need to update your network if you want to achieve these speeds as a number of Ethernet ports are still limited to 100Mbps although newer connections can accept up to 1Gbps.
Hanaro is currently the only ISP who will be accepting this ADSL modem. Hanaro is a Korean ISP. With this technology unleashed you can no doubt expect it to hit this side of the world in some shape or form. The speed is there… but lets hope the infrastructure can keep up with it.

Fujitsu A4 and A5 FLEPia

Fujitsu have created the FLEPia in 2 models. The first is an A4 version which weighs 480g and the second is the smaller A5 size which weighs just 320g. Both of the models are 1.2cm thick. The FLEPia has built in wi-fi allowing you to download content or pictures over a network, and it also has an SD slot allowing for a 4GB card to be inserted to read data from. 6 function buttons can be found on the FLEPia as well as a scroll key allowing for easy access to eBooks. The battery life is one impressive feature of this device which allows it to go for 50 hours on a single charge.
Now the price. The FLEPia will set you back $21137 for the A4 version and $12685 for the A5 version. I assume this is due to the screen technology used which is bendable, although $21k to read on the go???? I will stick to the PPC.

Archos 704

The Archos 704 is a widescreen multimedia player which has a 7 inch touchscreen display. Built in is an 80GB hard disk drive, 802.11g wi-fi and stereo speakers. The battery provides 5 hours of continuous video playback. Having wifi access allows you to stream video to and from your TV with a DVR station which is an optional extra. The built in Opera browser also allows you to browse the internet via wifi. Overall it looks like a decent package with a decent 7 inch touchscreen display.

The Ultimate Smallest MP3 Player

In the image above you will see a seriously small MP3 player which doesnt lack features either. It has a small screen, 2GB of memory, can play MP3, WMA, ASF and WAV and weighs next to nothing. It does make you wonder why they didnt just build it in to the ear phones rather then spend all that time making a device so small you would loose it. Along with those standard features the MP3 player also has a built in FM radio receiver so that you are not restricted to your own music selection.
The Ultimate Smallest MP3 Player (that is its full name) is powered by a 3.7V lithium battery which we assume has plenty of kick to power this device for hours. Connectivity is provided via a USB cable allowing you to switch the music around.
It costs $99.95. Part of me thinks it is over prices for the size of the thing, although the smaller the package the harder it was to build.

When you push the button you instantly flip your monitor from one PC to another. As well as sharing the monitor you also share your keyboard, mouse and speakers. This is ideal for those who have 2 computers set up but space for only 1 monitor on the desk.
The device features a 2 colour LED which shows the status of the flip and which computer it is currently displaying. Prices for the device run from $49 – $79 depending on if you go for the wireless remote version.
