Panasonic Lumix Point and Shoot Cameras Unveiled

Panasonic has announced four new point and shoot cameras that fall into the Lumix range. These four cameras follow on from eight that were announced just a couple of weeks ago at CES.

The new cameras are the ZS10, ZS8, FX78, and TS3 which have a number of features all of which are explained below.

The Lumix ZS10 and the ZS8 each have a zoom lens capable of an optical zoom of 16 times. Each has a 14.1 megapixel sensor with the ZS10 being capable of capturing video at 1080p while the ZS8 is restricted to 720p. The ZS10 has a 24mm wide angle lens and has a 3 inch touchscreen. PSP 2 Could get OLED Screen and 3G Connectivity

We heard rumors recently that indicated that the PSP 2 would be as powerful as the PS3. We also now hear that Sony want to put both 3G connectivity inside it as well as an OLED screen.

Other than the quick rumors of the OLED screen and 3G, not much else is known about the device other than we hear that it might be officially announced this week on January 27. 8 Inch KYROS Tablet Detailed

The 8 inch KYROS MID8020 internet tablet was on show this year at CES. The tablet has a 800MHz CPU, a 4:3 aspect screen that is multitouch (800 x 600) and it has 1080p playback via HDMI.

For connectivity, it has WiFi built in. It runs the Android 2.1 operating system although the Android Market doesn’t look to be available. Instead, it will run the AppsLib marketplace which allows you to download the apps you need. [Read more…]

Motorola XOOM Android 3.0 Tablet Revealed

Motorola has introduced details of its first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet at CES 2011. The new tablet will be called the Motorola XOOM and will have a 10.1 inch screen.

The device detailed was first spotted a month or so back when Andy Rubin gave a very brief demonstration on stage although not much was seen at the time as to what OS it was running. As for technical specs, the 10.1 inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and can playback 16:9 content. [Read more…]

Vizio Tablet and Phone Details Revealed

Earlier today we mentioned that a Vizio tablet and phone were spotted. Just a few hours ago, the details were not available, but now Vizio has formally announced the devices.

The Vizio Tablet has an 8 inch screen (as previously known) and uses capacitive touch. 3 speakers are built in to the tablet. The tablet also has a front facing video camera.

The phone has a 4 inch display that is also capacitive touch. On the back is a 5 megapixel camera as well as a front facing camera. [Read more…]

PlayStation Phone to be Called Xperia Play

Sony Ericsson has filed for a trademark called XPERIA PLAY. This is now believed to be the new name for the Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone that is believed to be launching around February/March of 2011.

The trademark was filed for in the EU, as well as a number of domain names such as Xperiaplay.com/net etc… We also hear that several other trademarks have been filed all following the Xperia naming convention which includes the Xperia Neo, Xperia Duo and Xperia Arc. [Read more…]

ViewSonic G Tablet Pulled by Staples

The ViewSonic G Tablet has been pulled from Staples stores due to some manufacturing problems.

The G Tablet isn’t the first tablet to have this problems. The first one was the Toshiba Folio 100 that was pulled from shelves in the UK due to quality control issues. The G Tablet is just the next in line of what we assume will be more over the coming year. [Read more…]

Gran Turismo 5 Installed to SSD Speeds Up Load Times

One way that you can increase the load speed of Gran Turismo 5 is by installing it to an SSD drive on your PlayStation 3. Some tests were performed with various configurations that revealed load times could be cut in half (from about 40 seconds) right down to about 20 seconds in some cases.

The problem here is for people with a slim Playstation 3. Unfortunately, this isn’t for you. However, if you still own an older fat Playstation 3, then switching out the hard drive for an SSD will help things move along more swiftly. [Read more…]

iPad 2 Display Wont Be OLED

We just mentioned some details about the iPad 2 getting cameras. We now hear that the 9.7 inch screen will not be OLED as rumored before. Of course, this is just another rumor to tackle the previous rumor which said it would. The reason that the iPad 2 display wont be OLED is apparently because of Samsung Mobile Display not being able to manufacture enough of them in time for the iPad 2 release date.

Samsung Mobile Display have about 98% market share of OLED panels and as Apple needs millions of them making any time now, this just isn’t going to happen. [Read more…]

Nexus S Super AMOLED to be Replaced with Super Clear LCD in Russia

The Google Nexus S from Samsung will be launching in the next couple of weeks in the US and the UK. When it arrives, it will have a Super AMOLED screen. We are hearing reports today though that indicate the Super AMOLED screen will be replaced with a Super Clear LCD screen over in Russia as well as potentially, a few countries in Europe.

The reasons for the switch are not known and at the moment, we are not sure 100% that this is for real or not. If so, it could be due to shortages as the new production line at Samsung will not be opening till 2Q 2011 for Super AMOLED screens. [Read more…]

Nexus S Release Date and Pricing Revealed for US/UK

Yesterday was a good day for Android fans as we saw the Android 2.3 OS being made available to Nexus One owners and we also got the Nexus S release date which is confirmed as being December 16 in the US and December 20 in the UK.

We also now know the price tag for the Nexus S and have found that in the US, it will be priced at $199 locked on contract for 2 years or if you prefer it unlocked and off contract, it costs $529. Best Buy in the US will have exclusive rights to sell the Nexus S. [Read more…]
