Samsung Epic 4G Froyo Update Pulled due to Issues

The Samsung Epic 4G Android 2.2 Froyo update had started rolling out a few days ago although we now hear that the update has been pulled due to a few issues.

GMail for Android Update Pulled from Market

Yesterday, Google updated the GMail app for Android smartphones. If you are trying to get to that update now then you will be out of luck, for now, as a few bugs have surfaced which has caused Google to take it down from the Android Market.

Windows Phone 7 Update for Samsung Omnia 7 Disabled

You may remember yesterday that reports were appearing saying that the new Windows Phone 7 update is causing problems for the Samsung Omnia 7 smartphone.

The update being installed was a very minor update that made a few changes to the way WP7 will update in the future. However, when this process was run on the Omnia 7, it caused a few devices to be bricked, which is to say they were rendered useless due to a fault in the update.

We now hear that Microsoft has stopped the update for those running Samsung devices due to a problem being found. As soon as Microsoft [MSFT] manage to fix it, they’ll allow the remaining devices to be updated. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Could be Unveiled in March

At MWC a few weeks back, we had the chance to see the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 being announced (device pictured above). We now hear rumors about Samsung releasing an 8.9 inch version that could potentially be called the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.

This new model will sit right between the Android 2.2 Galaxy Tab (7 inch model) and the newly announced Android 3.0 Honeycomb Galaxy Tab 10.1. This new model will also run the Android Honeycomb operating system it is believed. This comes from the Android 2.X range being good for devices up to 7 inches in size, so the 8.9 model is likely to get Honeycomb. [Read more…]

Motorola Xoom Contract Pricing Revealed on Verizon

Verizon has revealed the contract pricing for the Motorola Xoom. For those wanting to sign up to a 24 month contract, they’ll knock $200 off the price taking it from the $799.99 SIM free price down to $599.99.

The contract will be $20/month and will include an allowance of 1GB of transfer. The total price over the two years will be $1080. [Read more…]

Mitsubishi 92 Inch 3D Screen Unveiled

Mitsubishi has introduced a new 3D TV to its range. The new screen measures a healthy 92 inches and has a bunch of features packed inside.

The features include a built in emitter, DLP technology, four HDMI inputs as well as the ability to stream audio via Bluetooth.

Super AMOLED Plus Explained

Samsung has created an image that shows the difference between an ordinary AMOLED screen and a Super AMOLED Plus display that will be arriving in the Samsung Galaxy S 2 when it launches.

Put simply, the main difference is that the Super AMOLED Plus version has more pixels. At a WVGA resolution the regular AMOLED can show 768,000 sub-pixels while the new version of the screen is capable of showing 1,152,000 sub pixels. [Read more…]

Differences Between CDMA and GSM iPhone Call Settings Detailed

Although there aren’t many differences between the iPhone on Verizon when compared to the AT&T GSM model, there are a few subtle differences in how they work.

The first is quite a major difference in that conference calls are restricted to just 3 people on the Verizon model. This number includes your self. For business users, this could kill the deal as oft times, they need to talk to multiple people. Also, the Verizon iPhone doesn’t allow you to break off to private calls like the AT&T model does. Acer ICONIA TAB A500 Android 3.0 Tablet Unveiled

We’ve seen many Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets being unveiled this week and if you thought that would be the end of it for a while, then think again as there are still many more to come. The next to be announced is the Acer ICONIA TAB A500. The ICONIA TAB is another Android 3.0 Honeycomb device that will launch in the coming months.

Acer has given the A500 a 10.1 inch screen. The screen of course, is capacitive, allowing easy interaction with the Honeycomb operating system. The touch panel is also multi-touch allowing for pinch/zoom. Other features include it being 1080p compatible with the video stream being output via the HDMI connector. [Read more…]

T-Mobile G-Slate with 8.9 Inch Screen and Tegra 2 Unveiled

T-Mobile has announced the LG G-Slate. This particular tablet has an 8.9 inch screen and runs an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. The operating system that will run on the G-Slate is Android 3.0.

The 8.9 inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels allowing users to watch 720p HD video. A unique feature of this particular tablet is that it has a couple of cameras on the back capable of capturing 3D pictures. [Read more…]

More Facebook Phone Rumors Revealed

Although the rumors of a Facebook Phone have been denied in the past, we now hear more rumors of the device.

BGR received a tip recently that hinted at the device still being designed. Some of the features to be made available could include location aware coupons, always on GPS, cloud-based storage and a news-ticker style inbox where emails, updates and everything else is put in to a single feed on the home screen.
