Wi-Fi Detector Shirt

wifi_shirt_anim
This cool t-shirt has a wifi signal detector built in. When walking around the t-shirt will display the strength of wi-fi signals around you. This will save valuable minutes as it hunts for a signal for you. Once you see the signal bars increase you can then whip out the laptop and get working away. Too bad it doesn’t show the SSID’s and if WEP is enabled. It will detect 802.11b or 802.11g signals. Also the t-shirt is machine washable. Just make sure you take out the battery pack and screen before putting it through a spin cycle. 3 AAA batteries will power this beast for several hours.

Mario and Duck Hunt Custom Cartridge Clock

mario-duck-clock
This old 8-bit NES cartridge has been converted in to a wall clock. The idea is quite cool and has brass hands attached to a quartz motor which is then put inside the old Nintendo NES game. It costs $18 and mounts on to a recycled acrylic stand. I like this one!!!

4D Virtual Human

4D-Virtual-Human
Scientists at the University of Calgary recently created a computer model of a human body. The body resides in a virtual reality room known as a Research Holodeck where the the 4D model floats in space by being projected from three walls and the floor. When created, the model had 10 times resolution of any other in the market. For a more detailed explanation check out ScienceDaily who have a full report of the CAVEMan.

UXV Combatant Unmanned Drone Warship

UXV Combatant Drone Warship
This is the UXV Combatant warship that is being developed by BAE systems. The future according to BAE will be filled with AI and robots which will fight against each other. It sounds rather terminatorish to me. It expected that this ship will go in to service after 2020 which isnt that far away to be honest. It is 8000 tonnes and will have a whole host of features such as a below deck hangar, smart munitions and twin flight decks to name a few.

Full integrated electrical propulsion with twin propeller shafts/motors supplied by gas turbine and diesel alternators. Alternatively, cruising power can be supplied by two shafts/motors and diesel alternators with boost power from one gas turbine driving two water jets.

Completly crazy 🙂

WheelSurf

This crazy thing is called the WheelSurf which is a large wheel you sit in and roll around. There is no steering or braking and it works on gravity. Just find a hill and you are rolling. The video is quite funny towards the end when one of them kind of wipes out.

Audio Shaker – Shake your Voice up

audioshaker
The Audio Shaker is a device which captures noise such as your voice, claps, dog barks or anything else. You then shake up the container and pour out the jumbled up sound. You can choose to pour out just a few words too, or even add more to them to create a different sound. I guess the point of it all is that you pour out the sound and then interpret what the meaning of life is or something :S I have no clue to be honest.

Cool Mobile Phone Projector

pico
This projector is Texas Instruments Pico Projector and it looks quite cool. It can project a 15 inch screen on to a wall and also in to a well lit room. It works by shining tiny red, green and blue lasers on to a micro mirror in a similar way to how DLP works. To save on power, the later versions will use LEDs. The good news is that this technology is not far away and we could expect to see some mobile phones with built in projectors sometime next year.

Hasselblad H3D II Digital SLR

hasselblad-h3d-ii
The Hasselblad H3D II Digital SLR is a mean looking camera. The range boast 22, 31 or 39 megapixel CCDs with prices starting at 17900 Euros. The display is a bright 3 inch screen which allows for better viewing of images, but also uses less power consumption allowing you to get more pictures taken. Many features on the camera are controlled via menus on screen by using a thumb control. Just looking at the pictures of the camera make it look amazing. It would be interesting to see some pictures taken at the full 39 megapixels resolution.

Mega Mech Airmagination Inflatable Robot

Mega-Mech-Airmagination-Inflatable-Robot
The Airmagination is a cool robot which is remote controlled. It is quite massive at 4 feet tall. On the base of the robot are wheels which allow it to move around in any direction. Also a speaker inside allows it to talk in a robotic tone. The inflatable robot costs $39.97 from WalMart. I think they should make it twice the size, give it a huge speaker and motion sensors to shout at those who are trespassing in your home.

Streetwise Small Fry Stun Gun

SF1000R
The streetwise small fry stun gun allows you to carry 1 million volts in your pocket. Sounds a tad scary to me. It is small and can be concealed easily and fit in the palm of your hand. When using the device it makes an intimidating electrical sound which I am sure will make those attacked fear even before they get hit by it. When it touches an attacker for a few seconds the high voltage causes a loss of muscle control and balance making them fall to the floor. Give them 10 minutes and they will be fine. There is a safety button on the device to prevent you zapping your leg while walking around.

I have no idea what the legal advice is on carrying one of these around. Maybe you will need to read a disclaimer to the attacker and have them sign it before you can zap them 😉 The stun gun is rechargeable and costs $79.95.
