26M iPhones, 17M iPads and 4M Macs Sold Q312

Apple [AAPL] posted third quarter results last night along with all the numbers of how many of each device sold. In total the company saw 26 million iPhone activations along with 17 million iPad activations as well as 4 million Macs sold.

7-Inch iPad Rumoured for October 2012 Launch with a $250 Price Tag

I’m not too convinced with this just yet, but a rumour is going around now indicating that a 7 (or so) inch iPad will be launching in October with a price tag in the region of $200 to $250. The tablet will be aggressively priced which will allow it to compete with the likes of the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Evernote for iOS Gets an Update

A new update for Evernote on iOS devices has rolled out. The new version brings several new features which mostly revolve around inputting data on the device. iPhone and iPod touch users see the most amount of changes, particularly in the note editor.

Apple to Close iWork Service on July 31 2012

Apple has announced that iWork.com will be closing on July 31 2012. When that date passes it will be no longer possible to log in and use the service. Any documents still in there will be gone.

Apple Announces The new iPad

After many months of speculation, Apple has finally unveiled The new iPad. The device is now just called iPad rather than iPad 3, iPad HD or iPad 2S as some had speculated. The reason for this could be to fall in line with how people view the iPod nano, iPod touch, Apple TV etc… each has a generation, but essentially they are not referred to as the Apple TV 3 as an example. We suspect that the next generation iPhone will simply be called iPhone or The new iPhone as it will be listed on the Apple website later on this year.

Back to the new iPad. The key features of this model are the Retina display, 5 megapixel camera with new optics, A5X processor and 4G connectivity to name a few things.

Dexim Visible Green Charging Cable for iPhone/iPad

A new charging cable for the iPhone and iPad has launched. This one is a little different as it uses light within the cable to indicate how much a device is charged. The light, blue in colour despite the Green name,
has a moving effect that speeds up or slows down depending upon how much your device is charged. The more empty the battery, the faster the light moves in the cable.

iTunes U for iPad and iPhone Released

It was a big day for Apple yesterday and certainly a day where an industry is shaken up a little. As well as launching iBooks 2 with Textbooks and iBooks Author for the Mac, Apple also launched iTunes U for the iPhone and iPad. The app follows along with iTunes U that has been available in iTunes on the Mac or PC for a while, but allows you to sync your notes, courses and content between devices so that you can study whilst on the move.

iBooks 2 Launches

Apple has launched iBooks 2. The new app comes as a free update to the original iBooks app and is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Several new features have landed in version 2 which includes multi-touch textbooks that bring diagrams, photos and videos to the user. 3D objects can now be found in books as well as videos and other interactive content.

Apple Could Add Thunderbolt in iOS Devices

New patents published in the US hint that iOS devices could be getting a Thunderbolt port. One of the patents says “a connection may be provided between a portable media player and a display, a computer and a portable media player, or between other types of devices.” which has led a number of people to believe that this will include iOS devices.

60beat GamePad for iOS Launches

60beat has launched a new games controller for iOS devices. The controller is called GamePad and is unique in that it uses the headphone port of any iOS device to function. As it uses a 3.5mm jack, all power is provided by the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch meaning that no charging/batteries are needed.
