I came across this article at Macsimum news today. It’s basically plans for a wireless iPod which will use video technology to communicate with people. They should call it wipod (shame the domain is already gone).

Meizu iPod-Like Video Player

Meizu are releasing an iPod like video player (named Mini Player) which from the screen shots looks like it has potential to be a good contender. The Meizu has video, photo and music capabilities which is pretty much standard for a device like this. What makes it stand out is the nice large screen and the sleek looks which it sports.

Apple Security Vulnerabilities Addressed in Latest Updates

If you use an iPhone, iPad, or macOS then now is a good time to grab the latest updates due to a zero-day vulnerability found. The latest updates, released yesterday, fix this up by patching the vulnerability.

On the security page at Apple it describes the impact as follows:

Impact: An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.

Evernote for iOS Update Arrives

Evernote has updated the Evernote app for iOS devices. The universal app update covers the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch versions.

New features include snippets, an updated PDF engine, more formatting options, Evernote Business integration and the usual various bug fixes.

iOS 6 video demonstation of all new features

Redmondpie has been very helpful by putting together a video of all the new features to be found in iOS 6. The demonstration shows both the iPad running iOS 6 and an iPhone running the new operating system. The iPhone is a 4S while the iPad is an iPad 3 (or the new iPad as it’s officially known as).

iOS 6 Download Now Available

Yesterday, Apple [AAPL] released iOS 6 to the public. The new version builds on previous versions of the operating system. It is compatible with all iPhone models down to the 3GS as well as the latest 2 generations of iPod touch and the iPad 2 and iPad 3. For those running the latest gen iPhone 5 (released tomorrow), this OS makes use of the larger screen and also has all the apps adapted to fill the extra space on the screen.

ChargeCard Kickstarter project triples its goal with time to spare

Although we didn’t cover the ChargeCard project on KickStarter when it first appears on July 18th… not sure why as it looks amazing! I see today that they have 63 hours to go at the time of writing this and have raised three times more than their goal of $50,000. At the moment they have raised $151,248 funded by 5,173 backers. Impressive numbers! That amount of cash puts them in the top 50 of all KickStarter projects ever funded.

iPad mini expected to have smaller side bezels

More rumours about the iPad mini continue to surface. The latest is that the side bezels (when held in portrait) will be thinner, similar to the iPhone and iPod touch. This will make the device look more like a large iPod touch than an iPad although we believe it will still be classed as an iPad mini.

New dock connector rolling out to all iOS devices this fall

Out of all the rumours I’ve heard about the new iPhone and an iPad mini launching in the next few months, this particular is quite bold. The claim is that Apple will be changing its whole product line to a new and smaller dock connector. That part we have heard before, but the new rumours say that it will all happen at the same time this fall.

Gmail for iPhone updated

Google has released an update for its Gmail app on the iPhone and iPod touch. The new version of the app brings smoother animations as well as smoother scrolling. As well as it running better, Google also now allows image attachments to be saved to your photo library.

iPhone 5 event rumoured for September 12 with September 21 launch

The next iPhone is getting closer, perhaps closer than originally expected as we hear that there will be an event planned for September 12 with a launch of September 21 for the device. Although some are referring to it as the iPhone 5, it will likely be called just iPhone or the new iPhone to move away from numbers. It will actually be the 6th generation phone.
