Seems like progress is being made with the iOS 4.1 jailbreak. The Chronic Dev-Team is behind this one who posted a very brief update on the GreenPois0n tool that they are launching.

The tool is designed to jailbreak all iOS 4.1 devices as well as past versions of iOS.

Many people in the comments are asking for a progress update. Any kind of update that we could actually give would be too technical for anyone to understand anyway, not to mention potentially reveal the exploit. Just know that things are going swimmingly and we are working as hard as we can.

BGR along with others managed to get hold of a Samsung Protoype Windows Phone 7 device to test for a week. The hardware it’s self will never be launched although the preview is for the software that will be running on it, Windows Phone 7 from Microsoft [MSFT].

The preview covers hardware briefly although it doesn’t cover the specific Samsung handset used due to it never being launched. The requirements though were mentioned which includes a 1GHz CPU, 3.7 inch 4 point capacitive multi-touch display, 5 megapixel camera, 3 hardware buttons, dedicated graphics chip and memory built in with no removable storage allowed. AutoTrader have launched a new app for the Apple iPhone called the Autotrader iPhone App (UK version) that allows you to capture a picture of a licence plate which is then scanned in by the application to find the make and model of the car. Once done you have access to details on that particular model of car such as how it performs as well as reviews.

Another cool option in the application is the ability to scan through local listings of used and new cars that match the make and model allowing you to find a car nearby.

As well as being able to find reviews, performance details and new/used cars in the local area for sale, the application also gives information on how much the car costs on average around the area. [Read more…]

iFixit managed to quickly get their hands on the new phone from Google [GOOG] called the Nexus One that was announced and put on sale yesterday.

The Google Nexus One has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor inside and has a very nice 3.7 inch 480 x 800 WVGA AMOLED screen that has capacitive touch. Google describe the phone as being a “superphone” due to a few features not currently found on other Android phones.

As always, iFixit were very quick to break apart the $530 phone to see what was inside. Tools required to get the phone apart included the iPod Opening Tools, a T4 Torx Screwdriver and a Philips #00 Screwdriver. [Read more…]
