Search Filters Added to iPad App Store

Some handy changes have been made to the Apple iPad App Store in the last 24 hours. Now when performing a search in the app store (on the iPad), there are several filtering options that are available.

What these options do is allow you to filter between the category, release date, customer rating, price and device (iPad or iPhone). At the moment, the updated app store is only available to iPad owners and it isn’t clear just yet if the smaller screen iPod touch and iPhone will get the same treatment. [Read more…]

iOS 4.3 Beta 3 Download Now Available for Developers

Apple has made iOS 4.3 beta 3 available to developers for download. The download became available last night and is the next step to bringing the final version for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch owners to download.

The version number is 8F5166b and comes two weeks after the beta 2 launch. This particular version works on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch with a second version of it being made available for Apple TV owners. [Read more…]

Camera Icons Appear in iOS 4.3 Beta 2

As well as finding out that the new multitasking gestures in iOS 4.3 will not be made available in the public release, we also find out that camera icons have been included in the new iOS 4.3 beta 2 update.

Three new icons have been added to beta 2 which are FaceTime, Camera and PhotoBooth. The screenshot seen above is called homeScreenOverlayFaceTime~ipad.png and is a screenshot of the home screen used when selecting a new wallpaper on the device. [Read more…]

366K iOS Devices Activated Per Day

Apple held an earnings call yesterday that indicated that a healthy 366,666 iOS devices are now activated per day.

The 366K includes iPhone, iPad, iPod touch as well as the new Apple TV that also runs iOS for the operating system. [Read more…]

Users Download an Average of 60 Apps Per Apple Device

Last week, Apple announced that the App Store was about to hit 10 billion downloads since its launch. Along with that announcement the company also will be offering $10,000 USD to the person who downloads the 10 billionth application.

To move on past that news Asymco, a market intelligence site, has done a bit of number crunching and calculated that on average, each device that can connect to the App Store has downloaded an average of 60 apps. [Read more…]

iOS 4.3 Released to Developers

Apple has released iOS 4.3 beta 1 to developers indicating that the latest update isn’t too far away now.

A number of new features and several changes can be found in the new iOS which includes the ability to create a personal hotspot, just like the Verizon iPhone has the ability to do.

Another one of the big changes which follows on from the last post reveals that those running iOS 4.3 on the iPad will now have multi-touch gestures available that allow you to use 4 or 5 fingers on the screen in a pinching motion which in turn, jumps you back to the Home Screen. When swiping up, you’ll see the multitasking bar and when swiping across either way, you’ll swipe between apps. [Read more…]

Skype for iPhone Gets Video Calls

Skype for the iPhone has received an update bringing it up to version 3.0. This is the very same version we reported on a couple of days ago that had leaked on one of the Skype websites.

What Skype 3.0 brings to the iPhone is video calling, but video calling isn’t restricted to just WiFi, good news here is that Skype allow video calls over WiFi and 3G.

Two-Way video calls can be established between various devices including the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th gen although on the 3GS the rear camera will need to be used which doesn’t help things. [Read more…]

NikeWoman Training Club for iPhone Updated

Nike has launched a number of apps for iOS based devices, more specifically for the iPhone and iPod touch. These include Nike+ GPS, Nike BOOM as well as a number of Football apps. The latest is the NikeWoman Training Club app that acts as a personal trainer for users.

Mobile Safari on the iPhone 4 and latest gen iPod touch has access to the gyroscope it has been revealed. This ability comes from the latest version of iOS which is currently iOS 4.2.1.

Infinity Blade for iOS Update Now Ready for Download

As expected, the Infinity Blade update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is now ready for download. A number of new features have been added to the game such as more swords, shields, helmets as well as Armor. A new enemy can also be found in the game.

Angry Birds HD Update for iPad Arrives

Angry Birds HD for the iPad received an update today that brings a few new things to the game.
