We mentioned earlier today that a new iPhone 4 jailbreak was now available. The browser based jailbreak is able to jailbreak any iPhone up to iOS 4.0.1.

We are now hearing that an iPhone 4 unlock is incoming and that it will arrive soon, as in a couple of days time. The information comes from a tweet that said the unlock is in a private beta at the moment and will follow within 48 hours of the jailbreak (which has been launched).

It isn’t clear if users will be able to upgrade to iOS 4.1 in a few weeks time when that launches, but we assume that a jailbreak and unlock for 4.1 will also be in the works as soon as the final version is released. [Read more…]

The first iPhone 4 jailbreak has been launched. The new tool is called JailBreakMe and rather than being a usual app that you install on your computer whilst an iPhone is tethered, you simply load up a website in the Safari browser on the iPhone 4 and use a slide to jailbreak button to perform the jailbreak.

The iPhone 4 jailbreak comes from Comex who is part of the iPhone Dev Team. There have been a couple of bugs mentioned online which includes broken MMS and FaceTime functionality. If you can live without that then go ahead and jailbreak if you don’t mind voiding your warranty.

Update: MMS and FaceTime can be fixed according to the guys over at RedmondPie. Check out this post to get all the details of how to fix that.

Update 2: The latest Jailbreakme online version actually fixes these problems.

We just mentioned that the iPhone 4 on T-Mobile is now available in the UK. Also the iPhone 4 on Three is also available as of today. Out of the two carriers who launched the phone today, Three has some amazing deals. If you opt for a 16GB iPhone 4, you can pick one up for £99 costing £30/month. For that you get 500 minutes cross network, 5000 texts, 5000 three to three minutes and 1GB of internet which beats T-Mobile any way you look at it. If you opt for the £45/month plan you can pick up the iPhone 4 for free.

For the 32GB iPhone 4 on Three, the £30/month plan has the phone listed at £189 and on the £45/month contract you can pick up the phone for just £89. [Read more…]

T-Mobile is now selling the iPhone 4 on contract in the UK. All contracts are 24 months long and monthly costs start at £25/month with the 16GB model costing £279.

The cheapest you can pick up the 16GB iPhone 4 for on T-Mobile is free, but you’ll need to pay out £60/month to get it at that price.

The 32GB model cheapest price for the handset is £49 on the £60/month plan and that goes all the way up to £329 on the £25/month plan. [Read more…]

When Apple [AAPL] released iOS 4 for the iPhone 3G and 3GS a problem with the iPhone 3G was spotted in that the new OS made the user experience worse in that it ran slow and hesitated a lot.

Apple is aware of the reports and is looking into the matter, a spokeswoman told Digits.

The problems have been listed on the Apple forums since iOS 4 was launched, but have been generally overshadowed by the iPhone 4 antenna problems and generally took a back seat. If you plan on making a case for an Apple [AAPL] product such as an iPhone 4 or iPad for example, Apple has a page on it’s site that allows you to grab all the technical details you need to create the case. The CAD style drawings are available, but to be honest look a little bland as they are just line drawings with measurements and a few hints and tips added on such as “do not block the camera”.

Currently there are four generations of the Apple iPhone starting at the original on to the 3G, 3GS and finally the iPhone 4. If you have wondered which model is the quickest then check out the video below that shows each model side by side.

Tests are performed on boot times, shut down times, Google Earth loading as well as a number of other apps. In general the iPhone 4 wins on most accounts, but occasionally an older model wins such as when the original iPhone shuts down… it is the quickest at that.

For those of you who ordered a free case/bumper for your iPhone 4 though the iPhone Case app last week, the first batch is starting to ship. Most people received a 4 – 5 week time scale for receiving a case although it appears that some (perhaps those who first downloaded the app), have now received an email saying their case is shipping.

The iPhone 4 over at Three has some very competitive pricing that sees the smartphone costing £99 (16GB model) on the cheapest contract which is £30/month for 24 months. What you get for £30/month 500 minutes, 5000 texts and 5000 three to three minutes along with 1GB of data.

Three has put together a price comparison of three other UK networks (Orange, O2 and Vodafone – we assume T-Mobile will make prices available soon). The comparison gives a basic run-down of what you get for the same monthly price in terms of minutes, data, texts and iPhone 4 price. [Read more…]

Apple [AAPL] is launching the iPhone 4 in Canada this Friday. As well as Canada getting the iPhone 4 this Friday, another 16 countries will also be able to pick up the new phone.

Just like users in the UK, iPhone 4 customers in Canada will be able to opt to purchase the phone SIM free and unlocked. This will allow the phone to work on any of the Canadian GSM carriers allowing the customer to choose a SIM only plan.

Price wise, the iPhone 4 16GB model will cost $659 CAD and $779 for the 32GB model. This is the equivalent of $637 and $753 USD. [Read more…]
