Moleskine iPad and iPhone Cases Launched

A good number of iPad and iPhone cases are available. One of the ones we have been looking out for is the Moleskine iPad case. This particular case uses the regular Moleskine style covers and has rounded corners and a strong elastic band to hold it closed.

The Moleskine iPad case (and iPhone model) has a built in notepad that allows you to write paper notes whilst on the move if needed.

Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4 Camera Comparison

With the launch of the Nokia N8 yesterday, one of the big questions about the new smartphone is how it compares to the iPhone 4 in terms of picture quality.

The Nokia N8 has a 12 megapixel sensor with Carl Zeiss optics while the iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel sensor.

Engadget decided to run a side by side video and picture test to see which performs the best. Naturally you’d think a 12 megapixel camera would be the winner, but surprisingly the results are quite similar. [Read more…]

iPhone 3GS HDR Photos Could Become Official

We have seen a hack before that allows the iPhone 3GS to get HDR photography. This modification required that you jailbreak the iPhone 3GS and edit a file to activate the feature.

What we hear now is that Apple [AAPL] could have intended on the iPhone 3GS getting HDR photography all along. The information comes from a couple of images of the HDR button found in the firmware for the phone. Two image files were found. One of them had a retina display enhanced version of the HDR image (button found at the top of the screen when capturing an image). A second lower resolution image was also found that looks to be optimised for the regular display.

What this indicates is a couple of things. Either Apple intended the HDR feature to be included in iOS 4.1 for the 3GS, or that they might add it in the future. [Read more…]

Official Google Voice app for iPhone Already Approved?

It appears that the official Google Voice app for iPhone could be launching within the next few weeks. TechCrunch managed to get information from a source close to Google [GOOG] that the app has already been approved and that it is being prepared for compatibility with iOS 4 and multitasking to allow it to run in the background.

Last year, Apple [AAPL] blocked the application, so right now it seems like a complete u-turn. It is believed that Apple making the guidelines public has allowed it in as a look through shows that the app doesn’t break any guidelines, meaning it should now be allowed in (which is has been). How to Change iPhone App Icons Without Jailbreaking

If you want to change the look of your iPhone, the normal method requires that you jailbreak it to get the kind of access you need to change things.

Game Center for iOS 4.1 Ported to iPhone 3G

Game Center is part of the iOS 4.1 update that landed a few weeks back. However, it only works on the newer models of iPhone and iPod touch and leaves out the iPhone 3G from that compatibility list.

If you were disappointed by this news then perhaps take a look over at Redmond Pie who managed to get Game Center working on the iPhone 3G by making a few tweaks to the settings.

To get it working, the team used the Redsn0w jailbreak and edited a file within to switch the Game Center software back on. From looking at the video (embedded below), it seems to run quite well although there is a little lag in some places. The slow response in certain areas of Game Center is probably why Apple [AAPL] dropped support for it as they are quite keen on making things run smooth on iOS devices. [Read more…]

iPhone Case with Flip-Out Keyboard – The TK-421

The TK-421 is a case built for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS that has a built in QWERTY keyboard. The iPhone sits inside the back of the case and the keyboard can open up by rotating the iPhone off the keyboard… see the animation to see how it works.

The reason for this keyboards existence is due to some people just not liking a virtual keyboard that has no tactile feedback. By having a physical keyboard attached to the iPhone you can take advantage of iOS without having to use the touchscreen keyboard. [Read more…]

Apple [AAPL] could start building the CDMA version of the iPhone 4 beginning in December this year. Apple Insider is reporting that the company will be getting 3 million of the said handsets ready for a launch in early 2011.

That would put total GSM and CDMA iPhone production for the quarter at between 21 million and 22 million.
