Apple iSlate – “This will be the most important thing I’ve ever done” said Steve Jobs

TechCrunch mentioned that Steve Jobs was overheard saying “This will be the most important thing I’ve ever done while referring to the Apple iStale or iTablet.

If he is as happy as he can be over this product it makes you think we are going to be seeing something other than a bog standard device that we commonly see. Hopefully something unique like the iPhone but that will do a lot more. [Read more…]

Apple iTablet Starts Showing up in Flurry App Tracking Stats

No solid evidence has been found yet about the new tablet device from Apple [AAPL] that “might” be unveiled this Wednesday. However, a company called Flurry who analyse mobile applications say that they have detected around 50 devices that are connecting up from the Cupertino campus and appear to be tablets.

The devices that have been connecting up are running a new OS numbered 3.2. Some of the apps downloaded use Flurry’s tracking code and when downloaded the numbers are reported back to Flurry along with details of the connected devices. It is currently believed that iPhone OS 4.0 could be also launched on Wednesday, so if these devices are tablets and are connecting up with 3.2 then it could mean that they are using a slightly modified version of 3.0 to test the iSlate / Tablet on and maybe we’ll still see version 4.0 at launch. Sony PS3 finally Hacked – Fully?

It took 3 years, 2 months and 11 days to finally hack the PS3 fully according to George Hotz (although it isn’t public yet how to achieve it, so for now we can’t confirm the truth of it). The hack was created by George Hotz who managed to use some hardware and software to break in to the system. Dumps of LV0 and LV1 have been created as well as the NAND. Other dumps will follow in the next few weeks it seems.

The exploit will not be revealed yet though while decryption keys are found allowing those who understand it all to hack in to their PS3. [Read more…]

More Apple Tablet Details Revealed by WSJ

WSJ have created a list of what can be expected in the Apple iSlate or iTablet or whatever it will be called. If it is cloud based then each user will get their own files when logging in.

Other information reveals that an on-screen keyboard will be used for text entry. That particular point is an obvious one really with any sort of tablet device. The tablet will focus on content for old media such as text books, news and TV putting them all in your hand while on the move. [Read more…]

Apple iSlate Glass Photos Spotted

MacObserver received some pictures of part of the iSlate recently which shows the device front casing. The clear glass section in the middle of the frame is capable of holding a 10 inch screen according to the source who sent the photos in.

Over the last few days three photos of the same front surface have been with a couple of them shown against a keyboard to give the sense of scale that the device will be.

The glass does look like an iPhone which the iSlate has been touted to be a larger version. However, it’s unclear if the iSlate will literally be a 10 inch iPhone. [Read more…]

The small image above shows all the rumours listed, but is posted larger below to make it easier to read.

Items included on the list show a unique user interface, different from the iPhone. A front facing camera, OLED screen, price of about $1,000 USD, to be called the iSlate as well as several more. [Read more…]

Rumour: Apple Snaps up All Available Supplies of 10.1 in LCD/OLED Screens

I was hoping that rumours were coming to an end today after the crazy Apple 4G rumour we posted this morning, but unluckily I came across another about the Apple iSlate again. This time an unknown source has told TG Daily that Apple have purchased all available supplies of 10.1 inch LCD and OLED multi-touch displays for an upcoming device.

“We were designing a product for a customer and we needed 10 inch screens, but we’ve been trying for months and can’t get one from any of the Asian suppliers,” an anonymous designer for a firm wishing to remain nameless told TG Daily.

Pioneer AVIC X920BT In-Car Sat Nav System

The Pioneer AVIC X920BT is an in-car satnav system designed for a double-DIN slot. It has a large 6.1 inch screen that has a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels and is touch-screen too. Above the screen a slot loading CD drive can be found next to a microSD slot I guess for using a card full of MP3 audio files to play while on the move.

Down the left of the large screen all the controls can be found that includes volume, home, mode and track selections for the audio. The navigation part of the system I assume at this point is all touch-screen based. [Read more…]
