Sony 3D TV Launched

Sony has released several new 3D TV’s. The new TVs use shutter glasses to bring the 3D effect in to the living room. Sony has opted to use proprietary high frame rate screens which can provide full HD 3D images.

As with all things 3D at the moment, Sony isn’t letting the 3D TV’s go for cheap. On top of the high price tag you also need to purchase 3D glasses which cost $150 a pair and a 3D sync transmitter that costs $50. The $50 transmitter will be required on all but the high-end TV which has the feature built in.

The big screen of them all is the Sony Bravia XBR-LX900 series which comes with the mentioned transmitter along with two pairs of active shutter glasses. This particular series comes in two sizes starting with the 52 inch model costing $4000 and the 60 inch version costing $5000. [Read more…]

Apple iOS 4 Jailbreak for 3GS Already Complete

Yesterday Apple [AAPL] released the renamed iOS 4 GM (formerly iPhone OS 4.0) to developers. After only a day a developer has managed to create PwnageTool bundles for the iPhone 3GS iOS 4 GM download allowing users to jailbreak their iPhone 3GS whilst preserving the baseband so that the device can be unlocked.

If you are an advanced iPhone user then you might want to go ahead now and apply the iOS 4 GM jailbreak although we recommend just hanging on a bit longer as the iPhone Dev Team have promised a jailbreak and unlock this month for iOS 4. [Read more…]

Apple iTunes 9.2 Features

Apple [AAPL] will be launching iTunes 9.2 soon. Right now it is available to those in the developers program only and will be tested and launched we suspect within the next week or so.

iTunes 9.2 has a number of features which includes the ability to connect to the iPhone 4, syncing abilities of the iPhone, iPod Touch and iOS 4 with iBooks 1.1. PDF document organisation is included.

iOS 4 brings folders to the iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G. The new iTunes 9.2 brings the folder features to iTunes allowing you manage your applications and folders in iTunes to sync them to the iPhone. The iOS 4 release date is June 21 which we suspect that iTunes 9.2 will be made ready either the same time, or a few days before. [Read more…]

Apple iOS 4 Release Date and Details

Now that the Apple [AAPL] keynote has ended, it gives us a little time to run through all the announcements made and gather them together in to one place. Apple announced today that iPhone OS 4.0 had received a new name of just iOS 4 which drops the Phone from the name. The iOS 4 release date will be June 21 where you will be able to load up iTunes, connect your iPhone and download the latest operating system.

iOS 4 which launches June 21 will be available for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch (not first gen touch). The iPhone 3G will not get all of the features but the 3GS will. Note that the Apple iPad has not been mentioned for June 21. That’s because Apple said earlier this year that the iPad wont get it for another few months after the iPhone models.

The new iOS 4 includes over 100 new features. We won’t bore you to death by discussing them all, but will cover the main key features that you will probably use regularly on your iPhone. [Read more…]

Apple iOS 4 Release Date – June 21

Apple [AAPL] will be releasing iOS 4, formerly known as iPhone OS 4.0 on June 21. It will be a free upgrade to all users. iOS 4 will be made available on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G (with some features missing) and the iPod Touch (not 1st gen model). As previously mentioned, iOS 4 will not be available for the Apple iPad until later this year.

When made available you’ll be able to download it from iTunes when you sync up your phone. We are in the process of creating a list of all the features that will be included in iOS4 and what it will bring to your iPhone 3GS and 3G and what the differences are, ie – what will be missing on the 3G version.

Stay tuned and we’ll have all the details soon.

HP ePrint Web Printer Service Announced

Earlier today a new series of HP email-able printers were mentioned. No specific details were given other than that they could have email addresses where you simply email the printer what you need printing.

HP has now launched the official announcement of the service including details of how the system works and what you will be able to do with the new printers. The new printers are called HP ePrint. The HP ePrint is web-connected and cloud aware.

What web-connected and cloud aware means is that you can access your printer from anywhere in the world. Documents can be stored in the cloud and printed when needed. Also the printers can connect up to services such as msnbc.com and automatically print out today’s news stories. [Read more…]

HP Printers to get Email Addresses

HP [HPQ] is expected to announce a new range of printers that will each be capable of having an email address. The idea sounds crazy until you look in to what capabilities that will give the printer.

Right now we live in an age where we carry an iPhone, iPad and other devices such as Android phones. Sometimes we want to be able to print but don’t have the necessary cables to do so. If a printer has an email address, you can simply forward the document to that email address, have the document load up on a small screen, check the formatting and hit print.

We are hearing that when the printers launch they will cost in the region of $99 to $400 depending on which model you choose. However, nothing is known yet about the printers other than they can receive emails and print out the documents. We suspect that the higher the price the larger the screen and the more abilities it will have possibly with the lower end not being able to handle attached documents for example. [Read more…]

Apple Magic Trackpad Leak

Leaked images of a new Apple Magic Trackpad were spotted today that reveal Apple [AAPL] could be working on bringing a touch/gesture based interface to the desktop. Apple over the last few years has worked a lot with touchscreen devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and have advanced quite far with that technology. The leaked images seem to indicate that a new trackpad will be launching for desktop devices.

The Apple Magic Trackpad looks to be a bluetooth device that sits on your desk and has a similar profile to the Bluetooth keyboard in that a small cylinder on the back elevates the back end of the pad slightly. The magic trackpad would potentially allow you to more easily navigate around the screen and use gestures to swipe between windows for example.

Rumours earlier this year came about a multi-touch trackpad but shortly after seemed to be forgotten about. Also a patent for a “Magic Trackpad” was also unveiled a while back too, so perhaps today is when we will finally hear about this device. [Read more…]

AT&T 2GB Plan Could Restrict you to 10 Hours of Video Per Month

When AT&T announced new plans the other day, they mentioned that 98% of unlimited plan users never went above 2GB of data. However, this was “smartphone users” and not iPad users. We suspect that the iPad has caught them off guard and that with the increasing availability of streaming applications they are probably getting concerned about how much data is being eaten up by iPad users… hence why they probably only reported on smartphone users keeping the iPad users secret.

What seems to be the main reason for the switch is the growing demand for streaming video content over 3G on the Apple iPad. When using an iPad to check email, browse websites and sync with Exchange you hardly use any data. My own iPad 3G is 9 days old now and I activated the microSIM late Sunday night. So far I’ve used about 40MB of data while on the move to check emails, browse the web and an hour or so of streaming video on YouTube… for my daily usage I probably wont go over the 2GB limit if I had that limit (I’m in the UK with different tariffs). But for many who travel on public transport, travel a lot and work away, streaming video could potentially get used a lot more. [Read more…]

Apple iPad Orders made before June 7 will get $30 Unlimited Plan

AT&T [T] earlier this week decided it would be fun to scrap the $30 unlimited plan as of June 7 and start offering a 2GB plan for $25/month. For those using mobile phones is might not seem like too much of a bad deal. I use my iPhone quite a bit and have only just racked up 2GB of data in the last couple of months. However, for iPad owners where the data usage is expected to be more this is quite a blow for some.

We know that Apple [AAPL] recently changed the shipping date of the iPad to June 7 which some thought was part of a sneaky plan to stop the $30 unlimited plan being purchased, however, AT&T has now said that anybody pre-ordering an iPad before June 7 will still be allowed to use the unlimited plan even if their iPad doesn’t land until the changes to $25/2GB plans are made. Asphalt 5 on Nokia N8 Video Demo

The Nokia N8 looks to be quite a nice smartphone despite the early review of a leaked model.

The video below was provided by Gameloft and shows Asphalt 5 running on the Nokia smartphone. If real, it looks quite amazing. We just mentioned “if real” in that SlashGear rightly point out that the game “might” be rendered or perhaps not showing it actually on a Nokia N8. There are no disclaimers to say other wise, so perhaps it is the real deal. [Read more…]

Dell Streak on O2 Now Available in UK

Today is the launch date of a few good devices. Over in the US the HTC EVO 4G just became available and here today in the UK the Dell Streak is now being made available on the O2 network.

Price wise, the Dell Streak free on all tariffs from £25/month and above which is a good deal although for £25/month you get data only and not Voice calls bundled in. You could possibly get away with using a service such as Skype to make calls though. The phone it’s self has a 5 inch screen. The screen is multitouch and can display 800 x 480 pixels. It runs Google Android, has an all-day battery life. [Read more…]
