Apple iOS 4 Release Date and Details

Now that the Apple [AAPL] keynote has ended, it gives us a little time to run through all the announcements made and gather them together in to one place. Apple announced today that iPhone OS 4.0 had received a new name of just iOS 4 which drops the Phone from the name. The iOS 4 release date will be June 21 where you will be able to load up iTunes, connect your iPhone and download the latest operating system.

iOS 4 which launches June 21 will be available for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch (not first gen touch). The iPhone 3G will not get all of the features but the 3GS will. Note that the Apple iPad has not been mentioned for June 21. That’s because Apple said earlier this year that the iPad wont get it for another few months after the iPhone models.

The new iOS 4 includes over 100 new features. We won’t bore you to death by discussing them all, but will cover the main key features that you will probably use regularly on your iPhone. [Read more…]

Zipcharge Quick Charger

The Zipcharge Quick Charger is another device that allows you to charge up your mobile phone, PDA or MP3 player while on the move.

The device is available over at Firebox where they claim the charger can charge a phone up to four times quicker than a regular lithium-ion charger. Just 15 minutes of charging time is capable of giving your iPod another 20 hours of music playback and a standard mobile phone about 10 hours of talk time. Obviously those numbers won’t match up for the iPhone and other large screen smartphone devices, but for a smaller phone that requires a lot less battery juice to keep running it certainly will come in handy. Two different versions of the iPad will be made available. The first is a Wi-Fi version that is compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n networks. The second iPad model has an integrated 3G connection built in allowing it to connect to a number of networks which includes UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz) as well as GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz) networks. Motorola Droid gets Hands on at BGR

motorola-droid_1Over the weekend we posted some shots that we found regarding the Android 2.0 operating system that BGR managed to get their hands on. Just a day before that BGR also made a quick video showing HELLOMOTODROID which looks to be exactly the same phone.

Now BGR have shown us some full pictures of the phone including a number of angles showing us exactly what it will look like. The phone as mentioned, will run Android 2.0 (which from what I have read looks amazing) and will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 3G S. It is described as the thinnest QWERTY slider phone ever mad. It runs a fast processor and has a nice sized capacitive touch-screen for input. [Read more…]
