Kindle for iPad and iPhone Updated – Kindle Store Button Removed

Amazon has updated the Kindle app for the iPhone and iPad today. The new update brings a few new features but also takes one away. The feature removed is the Kindle store button that takes users directly from the app to the store to buy books. This has been met by a bit of frustration by regular Kindle app users:

by GLutenFreeMel
You can no longer go to buy books or get samples directly from the app. Apple made them remove the store feature, but I can’t see myself using my kindle app on my phone or IPad anymore.

Another said the app has now just become unappealing.

iOS 5 Hints at Two iPad 3 and Two iPhone 5 Models

Although there’s not much we are too surprised about here, we still thought we’d mention that iOS 5 has indications that two iPad 3 models will be launching as well as 2 iPhone 5 models. The information comes from the SDK that shows references to iPad3,1 and iPad3,2 as well as iPhone4,1 and iPhone4,2. No mention of a new iPod touch is listed.

The reason the iPhone model numbers contain a four is that it’s the forth generation iPhone if you count the 3G still as first generation.

The iPad 3 could be launched with an AMOLED screen according to one report today. Apple COO/acting CEO Tim Cook made a visit to South Korea last week and a suggestion has been made that he visited one of the Samsung factories (Gen-5.5). It is also believed Apple made an advanced payment for the displays.

The current capacity is 48,000 substrates per month at this particular factory and it isn’t clear how many screens can be made from each substrate. By the end of the year, the number is expected to ramp up to 100,000 substrates per month.

Tuff-Luv Tri-Axis Stasis iPad 2 Case Review

The problem with iPad 2 smartcovers is that you are always conscious of the back of the device being scratched. The smartcover does a good job of protecting the screen, but that’s all it protects.

The Tuff-Luv Tri-Axis Stasis case is one option that can provide more protection for your new iPad 2. The cases are available in several materials which includes Genuine Leather, Saddleback Leather, Napa Leather and Veggie Leather. The case wraps around the whole of the iPad 2 to keep it protected. The inside of the case is covered in microsuede that helps keep the screen protected when the case is closed. The Stasis part of the name was chosen as the case is capable of switching the iPad 2 on and off by opening/closing the front cover.

iOS 4.3.2 Update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch Arrives

Apple has released an update for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The new version is 4.3.2 which is a minor update that brings a few bug fixes to the OS.

The fixes include the FaceTime problem where a blank screen or frozen video would occur during a call. Also, a fix specific to the iPad WiFi+3G model has been fixed which prevented some users from connecting to networks (international problem only). Finally, a number of other security updates were baked in to the update which we suspect just seal a few security holes, perhaps to help prevent those who update from jailbreaking with the current methods.
