iPhone 4 UK Coming to Three

The Three network in the UK has stepped up by now saying it will also offer the iPhone 4 in the UK when it launches. The network joins the other four main networks in the UK which are O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone.

Just like the other four networks, the iPhone 4 UK on Three has yet to receive pricing details although we expect to hear within the next few days, possibly tomorrow in preparation for the June 15 pre-orders starting.

The only network who seems to be hinting on the iPhone 4 UK price at the moment is O2 who has created a micro site with details on how much you pay to get out of your contract. We also have seen some hints that O2’s pricing will follow that of the iPhone 3GS when that launched. [Read more…]

iWork for iPhone 4 Accidentally confirmed

Apple [AAPL] appears to have accidentally confirmed the existence of iWork for the iPhone 4, or perhaps iOS 4 which would also bring it to the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

The image seen above shows iWork running on the iPhone 4 particularly when it mentions to open in Keynote. The image was captured a few hours ago but has since been removed from the Apple [AAPL] site indicating that the company are not quite ready to launch the application, or worst case, that it was just a mock up image to see what it could look like. We are inclined to believe the former rather than the latter and expect to see details soon from Apple. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4 UK Launch on T-Mobile

T-Mobile today became the forth carrier to announce it will be offering the Apple iPhone 4 in the UK in the next couple of weeks.

As with the other three carriers, no pricing has been made available yet although we expect that T-Mobile, Orange, O2 and Vodafone will all announce prices either on or before June 15 when pre-orders open up for the new device.

For those unaware, Apple [AAPL] announced the iPhone 4 yesterday morning at WWDC along with a launch date of June 24 across five countries. Only US pricing is currently available which indicates on AT&T that a 16GB iPhone 4 will cost $199 with a 2 year contract or $299 for the 32GB iPhone 4 model. [Read more…]

Apple iOS 4 Release Date and Details

Now that the Apple [AAPL] keynote has ended, it gives us a little time to run through all the announcements made and gather them together in to one place. Apple announced today that iPhone OS 4.0 had received a new name of just iOS 4 which drops the Phone from the name. The iOS 4 release date will be June 21 where you will be able to load up iTunes, connect your iPhone and download the latest operating system.

iOS 4 which launches June 21 will be available for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch (not first gen touch). The iPhone 3G will not get all of the features but the 3GS will. Note that the Apple iPad has not been mentioned for June 21. That’s because Apple said earlier this year that the iPad wont get it for another few months after the iPhone models.

The new iOS 4 includes over 100 new features. We won’t bore you to death by discussing them all, but will cover the main key features that you will probably use regularly on your iPhone. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4 Announced

Apple [AAPL] has announced the Apple iPhone 4. The new generation device brings a huge number of enhancements some of which we think are quite impressive.

New features included in the iPhone 4 include video calling (Wi-fi only at the moment), a very high resolution screen, a 3-axis gyroscope, larger battery (10 hours of wifi browsing and more) and a number of other features we’ll cover in just a moment.

The iPhone 4 measures just 9.3mm thick (24% thinner than the iPhone 3GS). This is the thinnest smartphone ever made according to Apple. We have seen the design previously due to the leak over at Gizmodo, and not much that we can see has changed, if anything at all. [Read more…]

Apple iOS 4 Release Date – June 21

Apple [AAPL] will be releasing iOS 4, formerly known as iPhone OS 4.0 on June 21. It will be a free upgrade to all users. iOS 4 will be made available on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G (with some features missing) and the iPod Touch (not 1st gen model). As previously mentioned, iOS 4 will not be available for the Apple iPad until later this year.

When made available you’ll be able to download it from iTunes when you sync up your phone. We are in the process of creating a list of all the features that will be included in iOS4 and what it will bring to your iPhone 3GS and 3G and what the differences are, ie – what will be missing on the 3G version.

Stay tuned and we’ll have all the details soon.

HP ePrint Web Printer Service Announced

Earlier today a new series of HP email-able printers were mentioned. No specific details were given other than that they could have email addresses where you simply email the printer what you need printing.

HP has now launched the official announcement of the service including details of how the system works and what you will be able to do with the new printers. The new printers are called HP ePrint. The HP ePrint is web-connected and cloud aware.

What web-connected and cloud aware means is that you can access your printer from anywhere in the world. Documents can be stored in the cloud and printed when needed. Also the printers can connect up to services such as msnbc.com and automatically print out today’s news stories. [Read more…]

Google Music Could Compete with Apple iTunes

Google [GOOG] a few weeks back at the Google I/O event, gave a very brief sneak peak at a new web-based music service that would tackle iTunes that Apple [AAPL] run.

On June 4, a logo was found on the Google servers showing that the service could be called Google Music. The logo is above in this post (note that the logo has now been removed from the servers).

It is expected that Google Music will be part of a new section in the Android Market and that some sort of streaming will be made available for users. When we say streaming, it isn’t confirmed just yet if streaming will be made available, or if music you like can be just downloaded direct from Android Market on to your Android device and then played back. Dell Streak Rooted

The Dell Streak launched last week on the O2 network in the UK. We now hear that someone has successfully managed to root the device.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Dell Streak, the device is an Android tablet device with a 5 inch multitouch screen. It has the ability to make calls, but is primarily designed to surf the web and send/receive email as well as handle multimedia such as video quite well. With it having a smaller form factor than the larger tablets such as the iPad, it easily fits in your pocket allowing it to be carried around.

Rooting the Dell Streak allows a number of things to be done with the tablet which normally cannot be done on a restricted device. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4G Expected to be Announced Today

Today, June 7, will hopefully bring an end to all the Apple iPhone 4G leaks and rumours we have been hearing and seeing for the last few months. The main leak of the iPhone 4G from Apple [AAPL] was when Gizmodo managed to get hold of a prototype a couple of months back. Since then we have seen leaks spring out from a few countries around the world including Vietnam.

Now that we have seen the insides and outside of the iPhone 4G (or iPhone HD, or whatever it will be called), we are now expecting to hear official word from Steve Jobs himself today at WWDC.

Things that we expect to hear about the device are as follows…

The iPhone 4G is expected to have a 960 x 640 resolution effectively giving it four times the amount of pixels that the current iPhone 3GS has. The display is said to be similar to the iPad in that it will use IPS (in plane switching) along with another new technology called FFS (fringe-field switching). This could also get interesting in terms of apps for the Apple Pad… could the new iPhone apps optimised for a higher res look far better than they do now when scaled up? We hope so. Samsung Galaxy Tab to be Joined by Two Other Tablets

The Samsung Galaxy Tab was unveiled a few days ago. When previewed, it had a 7 inch screen putting it in-between the Dell Streak and Apple iPad in terms of screen size.

We now hear that Samsung will launch two other tablet devices also which will include an 8 and 10 inch version.

It is expected that Samsung will be pricing the new tablet computers aggressively to get them in the market to tackle the popular iPad from Apple [AAPL].

The Samsung Tablets will first be launched in their home network market on SK Telecom. If popular then I am sure an international launch will follow perhaps early next year. [Read more…]

HP Printers to get Email Addresses

HP [HPQ] is expected to announce a new range of printers that will each be capable of having an email address. The idea sounds crazy until you look in to what capabilities that will give the printer.

Right now we live in an age where we carry an iPhone, iPad and other devices such as Android phones. Sometimes we want to be able to print but don’t have the necessary cables to do so. If a printer has an email address, you can simply forward the document to that email address, have the document load up on a small screen, check the formatting and hit print.

We are hearing that when the printers launch they will cost in the region of $99 to $400 depending on which model you choose. However, nothing is known yet about the printers other than they can receive emails and print out the documents. We suspect that the higher the price the larger the screen and the more abilities it will have possibly with the lower end not being able to handle attached documents for example. [Read more…]
