Apple iPod touch Could get Retina Display and Dual Cameras

The Dell Streak pricing was revealed yesterday on the AT&T network. You might be wondering what this has to do with the next gen iPod touch 4… well, in a post written over at Daring Fireball, John Gruber also mentioned the Dell Streak pricing, but also dropped a couple of details about the next gen iPod touch in that it will have a Retina display as found in the iPhone 4 along with dual cameras like the iPhone 4. The comparison was made because the Dell Streak looks a little overpriced in comparison when compared to the iPad or iPod touch pricing.

With the information coming from John Gruber, we are inclined to believe it. This is for a couple of reasons… first is that he is often spot on with the details he reports on in regards to Apple, and it just seems like the next logical step for the iPod touch to follow the iPhone in terms of technology used. Notion Ink Adam Delayed Again – Coming before Year End

The Notion Ink Adam tablet looked very promising when we first stumbled across it a few months back. The first time we saw it was back in February. Shortly after that we heard it was being delayed, and delayed again. We now hear that it has been delayed till the year end due to problems with investors.

From what we understand, the company has lost investors and has lost money also which is the main reason for the delays.

The sad part about all this is that this particular tablet looks like it could be in with a chance of doing well. It’s innovative, looks good and appears to perform well… but with the delays it’s looking less likely that we will ever see it. [Read more…]

TweetDeck Android Beta Coming this Week

Today, the TweetDeck Blog had an announcement that mentioned TweetDeck for Android was almost ready for launch.

This week a public beta will be launched allowing users to test the application and report any bugs back to TweetDeck. It isn’t clear just yet when the final release will arrive, but we suspect that it isn’t too far away now although the final date will obviously be based on how well the public beta does. HP webOS Tablet Coming Q1 2011

We have heard quite a bit from various places about HP’s plans for tablet based devices. It first started off early this year when the HP Slate was mentioned. The device was announced by Microsoft [MSFT] and was set to run a version of Windows 7.

HP then purchased Palm and along with that was webOS. We then heard that the HP Slate was being scrapped in favour of a webOS tablet (possibly called the Hurricane). Android from Google [GOOG] was also mentioned along with plans for another Windows 7 Compact Edition tablet.

The latest we now hear is related to a webOS based tablet from HP. According to Engadget, the webOS based tablet is being launched in the first quarter of 2011, or at least this is what all the staff at HP have been told. [Read more…]

Install iPhone Flash in 3 Easy Steps

We wrote about getting iPhone flash working earlier this morning. When we first came across Frash (the iPhone version of Flash), we came across a set of instructions with 8 steps to complete the installation process. The steps required you download the software, log in to you iPhone via SSH, enter a username and password along with port numbers as well as a bunch of other things.

Thankfully a more simple install process has already arrived thanks to a Cydia Repo. Rather than going through the whole process of SSH’ing in to your iPhone from a Mac, you can now simply do it in 3 or so steps. We say “or so” as jailbreaking is a requirement as well as tapping on the Cydia icon to load it up with the latter not really being a step as such.

Either way, jailbreak if you haven’t, open Cydia and add the following…

Add this source http://repo.benm.at Frash on iPhone 3
Go to search and type in Frash. Install it. Frash on iPhone

RIM BlackPad Could Arrive November at $499

RIM is still rumoured to be working on the BlackPad. We heard last week that the device was to get a 9.7 inch screen, Bluetooth, WiFi as well as cameras on the front and back.

We now hear that Quanta will be manufacturing the tablet and that they will be building two million units in September in preparation for a launch in November.

Price wise, the tablet is also rumoured to be starting at $499. When we say starting, it isn’t clear at the moment if several models will be launched like Apple [AAPL] did with the iPad, or if RIM will just stick to the one model. [Read more…]

iOS 4.1 Gets Email Based FaceTime Support

We have heard previously that FaceTime call requests could soon be made via email. We now see that iOS 4.1 Beta 3 has the email FaceTime call functions available. This indicates that the next generation iPod touch 4 could get a front facing camera.

The option is found in iOS 4.1 Beta 3 in the Contacts application where two options to connect the FaceTime call are given. The first is via the regular phone number and the second, as pictured above, is by email.

The reason an iPod touch 4 would require email to active the FaceTime call is that no physical number can be attached to the device leaving the option of email the next best thing. [Read more…]

Verizon iPhone 4 Due in January – Rumor

According to TechCrunch, we could be seeing the iPhone land on the Verizon [VZ] network in January. The reasons for this are related to tracking what components are in demand. In the case of the iPad, large 9.7 inch screens were being built which helped give some of the details away.

What we hear now is that Apple [AAPL] has placed an order for a large amount of CDMA chips. As the iPhone 4 and other models do not currently use CDMA, it is believed that they are being purchased for the Verizon iPhone 4. TechCrunch also go on to say that the iPhone 4 will arrive on Verizon in January 2011. [Read more…]

ASUS Eee Tablet Coming October for under $599

The ASUS Eee Tablet was introduced at the end of May this year. We now hear that it will launch in October of this year with a price tag under $599.

Originally we heard that the price tag would be $199 – $299 with a September launch. These lower prices of course could be related to subsidised prices though which would fall inline with about how much we’d expect to pay for a tablet with a carrier contract. [Read more…]

iPod touch 4 Screen Captured

MacRumors recently was sent some images of what the source claims to be the front LCD and bezel of the upcoming iPod touch 4.

The parts look similar in design to the iPhone 4 although the speaker gap is missing. What we do notice is that a small hole is cut out on the top side right in the middle which could indicate that FaceTime for the iPod touch is incoming. This goes in-line with what we heard recently when some screen grabs of FaceTime being configured by email address was spotted which indicated a slightly different method is needed to activate a FaceTime call on the iPod or iPad. Rightmove Property Search Launches Draw-a-Search

Rightmove is a property search website in the UK that has hundreds of thousands, if not millions of properties listed across the UK. The normal way to search on Rightmove is to enter a postcode or town name and hit search. You can then set limits such as search within 3 miles of the selected postcode.

The company recently launched a new service called draw-a-search that lets you do just that… draw a search on a map to define where you want to look for a house.

The service launched a couple of weeks ago and already half a million people have drawn searches on the UK map to hunt for property. [Read more…]
