Omni Group has pushed out a couple of new updates today. Each is for OmniFocus for both the iPhone and the iPad. One of the new features that the updates bring is location based reminders. The location based reminders work in a similar way to the built in iOS 5 Reminders app and allow you to put a point on a map where you want to be reminded of something. iPad iOS 5 Compared Side by Side with Windows 8 Slate
After the quite impressive looking Windows 8 preview was released to developers a few days ago the question that I’ve seen across the net asks if it will be the next iPad killer. Windows 8 actually looks quite good and seems to have been thought out well. We’ve seen it running on a few tablets in the past few days but haven’t seen a side by side comparison with the actual iPad.
Multitasking on the iPad Concept Video Released
We often come across iPad and iPhone concept ideas. Normally they relate to something that is unreleased such as the hardware or some software feature that isn’t available. Today, the concept we came across was for a spruced up version of multitasking on the Apple iPad. The regular multitasking on the iPad happens when you double tap the home button and a bar scrolls up from the bottom of the screen to reveal which apps are still in use. You can then scroll to the right to find the app you want to carry on with or tap elsewhere to close it out. This new version is a little different.

Amazon Kindle Cloud Reader Launches for iPad, PC and Mac
Apple recently changed the terms of iOS which basically put in restrictions on purchasing products within an iOS app. After companies felt the terms were a bit harsh, Apple toned down the rules a bit. But the general problem is that apps like the Kindle App for iPad/iPhone couldn’t link direct to the Amazon store for book purchases. This means that users need to manually open up Safari, buy a book and then go back to the Kindle app to download and read it. Although the solution is still completely mobile, it just adds in awkward steps that didn’t go down well with some Kindle users.

Skype for iPad Launched
Earlier this morning Skype launched a native app for the iPad. Unfortunately it was pulled out of the app store moments later and then followed by a tweet saying:
To ensure your best Skype experience, we’ve temporarily removed Skype for iPad which went live prematurely today.
Good new though as a quick check of the app store shows that it is available again (at least here in the UK where I am testing it now).
