Samsung Galaxy Tab – 600,000 Sold Worldwide

We are hearing today that Samsung has sold 600,000 Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets within the first month of it being on sale.

These numbers, although I haven’t personally confirmed it, would probably make the Galaxy Tab the most popular Android based tablet in the world. I can believe that as well as I don’t recall other tablets selling this well (the ones with Android on them). [Read more…]

Free MobileMe Access Hinted at in iOS 4.2 GM

Some interesting information has been found in the iOS 4.2 GM updates that have been available for the last few weeks to iOS developers. The new hints in the beta code hint that Apple [AAPL] could be moving towards a free version of MobileMe. In the original iOS 4.2 GM launched early November the MobileMe login was switched from a MobileMe username to an Apple ID username and password.

The latest GM build (numbered iOS 4.2.1) also now has hints in the form of some error messages that have been added as follows…

“The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone” and “This iPad is not qualified for free MobileMe service.”

AirPrint Hacktivator Enabled iOS Air Print Service

We are still unclear exactly how Apple will launch AirPrint in iOS 4.2. At the moment, the last we heard was that shared printers are now not supported and the only way to print from the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch is to print to one of ten AirPrint compatible wireless HP printers.

If this continues to be the case then you might want to test out AirPrintHacktivator that manages to re-enable the service. To get it to work you’ll need a Mac along with the latest Max OS X 10.6.5 as well as iOS 4.2 GM of course. [Read more…]

HP Slate in High Demand – Six Week Shipping Delays

The HP Slate was first announced at CES right at the beginning of this year. Since then its been canceled, changed to webOS, Android and back to Windows. Now that it has finally launched (in Windows form), we now hear that extraordinary demand has put a six week waiting delay for those who order it today.

Although it takes six weeks to get to you and HP has described it has being in extraordinary demand, its difficult at this time to know exactly what that means in terms of sales. Apple [AAPL] announced along the way how many iPads had sold with that tablet device quickly reaching 1 million. However, HP could have made far less units and had problems for a real lack of units to sell. [Read more…]

Steve Jobs Says AirPrint Has Not Been Pulled

In the past few days some details/rumours about AirPrint support in iOS 4.2 being partially pulled went around the Internet. The original rumours hinted at AirPrint not supporting printers shared on a Mac or Windows computer which left many reporting that only five current printers from HP would actually be compatible with the service. One upset user of MacRumors emailed Steve Jobs to see what was going on…

Q: As a release-day purchaser of an iPad, I was elated when you revealed iOS 4.2 would support AirPrint. Now comes reports AirPrint support has been pulled from 4.2. Between announcements/assurances of the white iPhone, and now the pulling of AirPrint, is Apple going to lose credibility and become known for announcing “vaporware”?

A: AirPrint has not been pulled. Don’t believe everything you read.

Apple AirPrint via Mac/Windows Could Be Delayed

AppleInsider has reported that AirPrint in iOS 4.2 could be delayed indefinitely for those who would connect up to a printer on a Windows or Mac based device. Rather than being able to print to a shared printer as originally planned, it seems that this feature might be pulled out of iOS 4.2 and instead of using shared printers, the system might only work with wireless printers in the HP range.

Specifically, the five models mentioned are the following…

* HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-All-in-One Printer – C410
* HP Photosmart Premium e-All-in-One Printer series – C310
* HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer series – B210
* HP ENVY 100 e-All-in-One Printer Series – D410
* HP Photosmart eStation Printer series – C510″

Apple MacBook Air Battery Lasts 2 Hours Longer Without Flash

While Ars Technica was testing the MacBook Air, they found that dumping flash actually boosted the battery life of the Air by two hours.

The MacBook Air doesn’t have Adobe Flash bundled with it on these new models. Instead, Apple suggests that users can download the latest and secure version themselves if needed.

The MacBook Air tested was capable of about six hours of web browsing on a full charge without flash. However, when flash was installed, that dropped to just four hours. [Read more…]
