Kindle for Windows Phone 7 Download Now Available

Amazon has launched Kindle for Windows Phone 7. The download is now available from the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace.

Just like other versions such as the iPhone, Android and iPad variants, the Windows Phone 7 version allows you to download your already purchased eBooks. The app uses the same Whispersync technology so that you can read on the Windows Phone 7 device and then switch to another device and carry on reading from where you left off. [Read more…]

Kindle eBooks Outsell Paperback Books

It appears that Amazon has managed to do what many thought would take a lot longer. The company announced on its quarterly call that since the beginning of the year for every 100 paperback books sold at Amazon, there have been 115 Kindle eBooks sold.

Last year, hard cover books were also kicked out by the Kindle in that for every 100 of them sold, Amazon was shifting 143 which is an even more impressive ratio. We now hear that this figure is about 300 to 100 in favor of the Kindle ebook. [Read more…]

Android 3.0 Honeycomb UI Preview

When Google announced the Android 3.0 SDK download yesterday, it allowed developers to run and grab a copy of the new version of Android so that they can begin testing apps ready for the official launch next month.

The Motorola Xoom will be the first tablet to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb when it launches in February.

Two Million Galaxy Tab Units Sold in Three Months

Samsung has indicated that it has sold two million Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablets since its launch about three months ago. The device went on sale in October of 2010.

If the numbers are correct, this shows an increase in the sales rate as it took 2 months to reach 1 million and less than 2 months to reach the second million. [Read more…]

Palm webOS Tablet Leaked Pics

Some pictures (renders) of the new Palm webOS based tablets have leaked. What we understand is that HP will soon announce the Topaz and Opal tablets.

The Opal will measure 180 x 144 x 13mm and have a 1024 x 768 resolution display that will use TFT LCD screen technology. The Topaz will be a larger model that measures 241 x 190 x 13mm which will be a similar size to the Apple iPad. [Read more…]

Camera Icons Appear in iOS 4.3 Beta 2

As well as finding out that the new multitasking gestures in iOS 4.3 will not be made available in the public release, we also find out that camera icons have been included in the new iOS 4.3 beta 2 update.

Three new icons have been added to beta 2 which are FaceTime, Camera and PhotoBooth. The screenshot seen above is called homeScreenOverlayFaceTime~ipad.png and is a screenshot of the home screen used when selecting a new wallpaper on the device. [Read more…]

iOS 4.3 Will Not Include Multitouch Gestures

With the release of iOS 4.3 Beta 2 yesterday, Apple also announced that the multitouch gestures introduced in the beta versions will not make it to the public release.

This feature will not be enabled in iOS 4.3 for customers, but we are providing this preview to gather input on how these gestures work with your apps.

Microsoft OneNote Free for iPhone

Microsoft has launched OneNote for the iPhone. The new app was approved and added to the App Store yesterday and for a limited amount of time, it will be free for users to download.

Microsoft hasn’t said how long the app will be free for, so it’s best you grab it while you can. The downside at the moment is that only US iTunes users are able to download the app. Other markets simply cannot download the app unless setting up an iTunes account with a US based address. 366K iOS Devices Activated Per Day

Apple held an earnings call yesterday that indicated that a healthy 366,666 iOS devices are now activated per day.

Users Download an Average of 60 Apps Per Apple Device

Last week, Apple announced that the App Store was about to hit 10 billion downloads since its launch. Along with that announcement the company also will be offering $10,000 USD to the person who downloads the 10 billionth application.

To move on past that news Asymco, a market intelligence site, has done a bit of number crunching and calculated that on average, each device that can connect to the App Store has downloaded an average of 60 apps. [Read more…]
