The TomTom iPhone application should be getting updated soon, assuming Apple [AAPL] approve it. Included in the update are a number of features which should have been included at launch such as advanced lane guidance and text to speech.

Orange have launched a new iPhone app for Orange Wednesdays in the UK. Orange Wednesdays have been running since 2003 and allow those on the Orange network to text a number and get a free 2 for 1 voucher for use in cinemas across the UK every Wednesday of the year.
The new Orange Wednesdays app for iPhone and iPod Touch allows you to actually check cinema listings in your area, read reviews and grab a free voucher to redeem while at the cinema. Although not the most exciting of app launches this year it could be a handy app to have if you are going to pick up a new iPhone on the Orange network when launched next week. [Read more…]
Toyota have released a new iPhone app that attempts to educate as well as advertise the features of the Prius car… in particular it’s Draw feature is the funkiest as it allows you and your iPhone to interact with a large screen over in Times Square New York. When you have downloaded the application you load it up and draw on the screen. Your drawings are then thrown up on to the huge screen and mixed with the Prius. Although I say it’s the funkiest part of the app, admittedly it’s not that amazing, but still kind of cool in a weird way.
Other features of the Prius iPhone App include 360 degree views of the interior and exterior of the car along with interaction with the camera on the phone as well as a 10 level game that makes use of the accelerometer in some shape or form. [Read more…]
Along with a big update to a number of Apple products yesterday, Apple [AAPL] have also launched the new Magic Mouse. The mouse is the worlds first multi touch mouse allowing you to use anywhere on it’s surface to click on.
To use the mouse you need to brush a finger along the surface of it to scroll in any direction along with the ability to pan a full 360 degrees. Various other gestures can be used with the mouse including the use of two fingers, swipe left or right that allows you to skim through pages.
The multi-touch abilities stem from what started on the iPhone where a new way to interact with a screen was first used. Following the iPhone the iPod Touch also got this and then the technology moved in to touchpads on devices sich as the MacBook pro. [Read more…]
FPS have launched a new Pico Projector called the FPS Pearl M3. The pico projector is a small unit that has VGA image quality that is capable of projecting a 16:9 wide screen. The lamp has a 30,000 life expectancy and the projector can play back a number of common formats including AVI, various MPEG’s, WMV etc…
Pico projectors are small enough to be carried in your pocket and measure just a tad larger than your average mobile phone. The M3 is pretty much the same as any other pico projector on the market which I guess just gives you another option of what to buy. [Read more…]
In the last few days we have seen a number of places mention that Apple have shipped a new iPhone 3G S that has the boot ROM finally fixed to block the 24kpwn exploit. Many people knew it wouldn’t be long before this was also hacked, and funnily enough, it has.
The new boot ROM doesn’t actually prevent the 24kpwn exploit from working, but instead just added an obstacle in the path that the hackers have now managed to get around. There is a downside though in that to boot your device the phone needs to be tethered to your computer. However, this will probably be sorted in a few weeks just like the iPod Touch with the similar issue was. [Read more…]
iLounge managed to stumble over 10 more Apple Tablet rumours. The information comes from a reliable source who managed to provide details of the iPod Nano 5G, iPhone 3G S as well as a Chinese iPhone 3G months ago.
The first rumour says that 3 separate prototypes have been created of the “iPad”. The first version had a 7″ screen which was said to be too small. The latest prototype has a 10.7″ screen. The iPad will run iPhone OS and reports also say it will actually look like an iPhone, but obviously larger. [Read more…]
The latest iphone Pwnage Tool has been launched. It is numbered 3.1 and it supports Jailbreaking of the iPhone OS 3.1. However, it can only unlock the 1st gen iphone, iPod Touch and iPhone 3G (not the iPhone 3G S).
This is the low down on our tools for use with the 3.1 firmware from Apple, please read the whole post in full before attempting anything. Because of changes with Apple’s update techniques (that complicate the 3GS upgrade process) this will be a multipart release. This release starts with PwnageTool 3.1 for Mac OS X this application supports the iPhone 1st Generation (2G), the iPhone 3G and the iPod touch 1G. Now that the new range of iPods have been officially announced it’s time to get back to the rumours of the Apple Tablet. The latest is that industry sources have said a new 9.6″ multitouch screened tablet from Apple will be on it’s way February 2010 and will include built in HSDPA along with a decent battery for keeping the thing running for a decent amount of time.
A PA Semi processor is to be used and the price tag will be somewhere between $799 and $999. Shipments of the Apple Tablet are said to get to Apple for December ready for the launch a couple of months after that. For the battery, DynaPack are reported to be creating 300,000 per month and Wintek are said to be creating the screens. [Read more…]
Samsung have announced that they are launching the WB5000 compact digital camera. It has a 12.5 megapixel sensor along with 24x optical zoom and a 26mm wide angle focal length. By having a 24x optical zoom it is capable of a focal range of 624mm.
The camera is also capable of capturing images in HD at 720p in H.264 format.
