PS3 Comes to iPad, iPhone and iPod touch with everyAir

pandaelf Labs has created a system that allows PS3 games to be played on any iOS device which includes iPad, iPhone and the iPod touch.

The system isn’t self contained in that you actually play the PS3 games that are stored on the device. Rather, you are connecting up to a PS3, PC and various other bits of hardware so that you use the iOS device as an interface.

The process is that the capture device streams live video from the PS3 to a computer. You then connect everyAir on iOS to the computer and with a few tweaks to the hardware, the interpreter knows what buttons you’ve pressed on the screen, sends them to the PS3 which then streams the appropriate video content back through the PC. Apple Patent Reveals Accessory Transceiver for iPod

Interesting information can be found whilst looking at patents filed. The latest we came across today comes from Apple [AAPL] that reveals plans for an accessory transceiver. The accessory transceiver could be used in the iPod touch which would effectively give it the ability to make phone calls and receive text messages.

It is believed that the device could act like the Peel case we wrote about a while back that you basically put your iPod inside to give it a mobile phone signal.

The device is not intended for just the iPod though and could potentially be used for the iPhone its self. You’re probably wondering at this point, why you’d want to add mobile phone functionality to a mobile phone… well, Apple also indicate that CDMA could be part of the device which would mean you could then use your iPhone on a different network to a GSM network. Private Browsing Hits iPhone and iPod touch – Jailbreak Needed

If you have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch then the Covert app found over on Cydia can be installed. What it does is adds a tweak to the browser on the iOS based device to allow you to switch browsing to a private mode, much like how Firefox and Internet Explorer have a private section of the browser.

What this mode does is allow you to browse the internet from the iOS device in complete privacy. For example, you could be looking up some health condition that you don’t want others to know you searched for.

The app integrates in to Mobile Safari and simply ads a button on the bottom tool bar that you can press to jump in to private mode. [Read more…]
