pandaelf Labs has created a system that allows PS3 games to be played on any iOS device which includes iPad, iPhone and the iPod touch.
The system isn’t self contained in that you actually play the PS3 games that are stored on the device. Rather, you are connecting up to a PS3, PC and various other bits of hardware so that you use the iOS device as an interface.
The process is that the capture device streams live video from the PS3 to a computer. You then connect everyAir on iOS to the computer and with a few tweaks to the hardware, the interpreter knows what buttons you’ve pressed on the screen, sends them to the PS3 which then streams the appropriate video content back through the PC. Some digging around the latest SDK from Apple has revealed that the iPad 2 might get a camera similar, if not the same, as the current generation iPod touch. This means it will be somewhere in the region of 0.7 to 1 Megapixels. This is referring to the camera on the back of the iPad. As for the iPad camera on the front, expect it to be of VGA quality.
Those with an Apple iOS device such as the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, now have access to the Google Voice app. Prior to this launch, the Google Voice app was only available for the iPhone.
The Netflix for iPhone and iPod touch app has received an update. The new update brings video out support for the devices. Right now it is compatible with the latest generations of each device, ie the iPhone 4 and fourth gen iPod touch.
The current iPod nano is the sixth generation model. iSuppli decided to take a look at the individual parts to estimate how much the new iPod nano costs to build. Estimations show that it costs $43.73 to build a nano which makes it just less than half of what the first gen nano cost to build several years ago.
Interesting information can be found whilst looking at patents filed. The latest we came across today comes from Apple [AAPL] that reveals plans for an accessory transceiver. The accessory transceiver could be used in the iPod touch which would effectively give it the ability to make phone calls and receive text messages.
If you have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch then the Covert app found over on Cydia can be installed. What it does is adds a tweak to the browser on the iOS based device to allow you to switch browsing to a private mode, much like how Firefox and Internet Explorer have a private section of the browser.
When Apple [AAPL] announced the iPod nano last week, the music player was seen with a watch filling the small square screen. This of course made a number of people look at comparing this thing to a watch and wearing it around a wrist.
iFixit has taken apart a new iPod nano today. The nano has a multitouch screen in place of a touch wheel and has been made smaller than the previous version.
