Apple has filed an interesting patent that suggests they could be looking at using the regular 3.5mm and 2.5mm headphone/headset jacks, but also hints that the connection port could one day be thicker than the device its self.
The iPhone 4 measures 9.3mm in thickness and the new iPad 2 measures 8.8mm. Both of these form factors can easily fit a 3.5mm headphone jack. The problem will come in the future though as Apple find ways to slim down the next generation devices. In preparation for tomorrows launch of the iPad 2, Apple [AAPL] has posted 14 guided tour videos for potential buyers to have a look at. Subjects include a FaceTime demo, Mail, Safari, iBooks, Videos, Photos, Find my iPad, iPod, iTunes, App Store, Maps, Air Play, GarageBand and iMovie.
iTunes 10.2.1 has become available for the Mac in the last few hours. This update comes very shortly after the 10.2 update. Following the link to the knowledge base article provides no details as to why this update has been released, so we assume that Apple found a couple of bugs in preparation for the iOS 4.3 update that is due on March 11 (perhaps earlier).
OS 4.3 was expected to launch in a few days time on March 11 along side the launch of the US iPad 2. We now hear hints that it could be launching within the next few hours. Along with the launch, we also know that the Personal Hotspot feature will be launching, although a chargeable service in most cases.
Apple has announced that the iOS 4.3 release date will be March 11. Several updates are included in this version which includes the new Personal Hotspot feature that we have seen before in the beta versions as well as on the Verizon iPhone 4.
iOS 4.3 has hit Golden Master stage which means it’s almost ready for launch. When iOS hits this stage, it is common for the public release to follow about a week after. This changed when iOS 4.2 was released due to some WiFi bugs found late in the game, however, it is normal that GM is finalized code.

Well, it finally happened and not a minute too soon. Apple [AAPL] has announced a new range of MacBook Pro’s for 2011. The new 2011 MacBook Pro range is said to use the next generation processors, graphics as well as use the leaked Thunderbolt I/O technology.
Instapaper is a popular app for iOS based devices. Due to the popularity of it, it always manages to hold a decent rank in the News category. That rank is constantly between number 2 and 5.
The next generation iPhone, iPad and iPod touch could see a boost in battery life, thanks to some work being done by Apple. The company has filed a patent to which they describe a battery with a higher cell density. The patent is entitled “Increasing Energy Density in Rechargeable Lithium Battery Cells” and attempts to slightly alter how the battery works.
As expected, Apple [AAPL] has now launched subscriptions on the App Store. The new subscriptions service allows publishers of content on the app store to set up a regular automated billing cycle of weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, bi-yearly or yearly. The system will use the regular Apple billing system that is already used in the app store. By doing this, it makes it easy for the user to see all subscriptions on a single location and then cancel, edit billing frequency and make other changes when needed.
Apple has updated iBooks for the iPhone and iPad (as well as iPod touch). The new update is version 1.2.1 which brings several new features to the eBook reader.
