ViewSonic PJ258D – Projector and iPod Dock

ViewSonic PJ258D
ViewSonic are known for creating some excellent displays in the computer market. The quality and design is top notch. ViewSonic have now launched an iPod dock which when I first heard about I was suprised. However, this is no ordinary iPod dock as it is actually an LCD projector. The ViewSonic PJ258D costs $999 and is a powerfull device rated at 2000 ANSI lumens. This portable projector is not aimed at the business user, but more at those who want to watch movies on the go or at home.

The iPod dock allows you to connect your iPod directly to the projector and play movies from your iPod allowing for an ultimate portable system. The screen size limit is only restricted to the size of the wall in your home and Laptopmag tested the projector fully finding that at 10 feet away you could get an 88 inch display on your wall. If you have a 20ft living room then the screen is more then 8ft high. Of course if you want to start going for that larger size of display on the wall then lighting does become an issue, so this is best when it’s night, or with the curtains shut.

MyBlu – Linking Smartphone to iPod

MyBlu
If you have a smartphone and an iPod then the MyBlu could be for you. The MyBlu links your iPod to your smartphone and streams the audio to your phone which can be played through the handsfree kit. When a call comes in the MyBlu will pause playback so you can take the call. Also built in is an FM tuner which could be handy to use. There isnt much else that it does from the sounds of it, although Mavizen mentioned that they will be bringing out plenty of firmware updates. However, we do not know if these updates will bring more compatibility to new phones or actually add more features.

iLoad – From CD to iPod in Minutes

iLoad
The iLoad was created with a simple philosophy in mind… “The shortest distance between two points is a straight line”. In English this means that when you buy an iPod, then why do you need to go through the hastle of converting CD’s in iTunes and then transferring them to your iPod. The iLoad takes the middle man out of the equation by allowing you to connect your iPod direct to the media you are copying from. Basically, you plug your iPod in to it, connect the iLoad to the source and away it goes. No computer is needed. It is portable and doesnt restrict you to just iTunes.

The success of the iLoad has been great and unfortunatly orders are taking 30 days to ship (that is as of the 15th Jan 2007). However, if you are a heavy iPod user then this could definatly be good for you and worth waiting for.

Nintendo DS iPod Hack

Nintendo DS iPod
With the Wii getting all the Wiimote mods recently it seems only fair that Nintendo DS needs some of them too. We cant go leaving it out in the cold now can we. The Nintendo DS is a popular dual screen portable gaming device which was launched last year. The bottom screen is a touch screen which is what this mod utilises. The touch screen iPod is a program which can be run which emulates the iPod touch wheel and allows you to scroll through your collection of MP3s. Its a cool idea and well worth checking out if you are an avid DS user. Watching the video we can see that it functions just like an iPod would. Check it out after the jump.

Concept – iPod Watch

iPod Concept Watch
iPods always have a cool sleek look to them and this is what must have inspired the designer of the iPod concept watch. Looking over it’s sleek looks you could see that this would look great to wear. The iPod watch would sport some nifty wireless ear phones and would guarantee that your not to loose it out of your pocket while running for the bus. Great idea and I do hope this one hits the market soon.

100Gb iPod

100Gb iPod
Could the drive above mean that a 100Gb iPod is on it’s way? Toshiba have announced that a hard drive with 100Gb of capacity has now been made. The drive is 1.8 inches in size and looks very small. The iPod is currently running at 80Gb so it is possible that this could make it in to the latest iPods some time next year.

Zune vs iPod

Zune vs iPod
Above we can see a size comparison of the Zune vs the iPod. The Zune has some nice specs with it’s built in wifi and nice screen. Size wise, it’s still larger then an iPod. Overall the iPod is the smaller of the 2. Several models are compared in size and the width of the Zune is the only dim that compares.

However, all is not lost. The Zune is the 1st model. The iPod has taken a few generations of it’s iPod to slim it down. No doubt the Zune will shrink down a lot more when the next model comes out.

iVue Clear iPod Case

iVue Clear iPod Case
iVie have created a case that is transparent. It’s not really just a case, but a whole replacement for the front panel. The clear front side of the case allows you to see all the iPod’s inner workins… well, just a bunch of chips sitting there to be honest, but it might wow your friends and is at a fairly reasonable price to install for around 20 to 25 dollars.
