HTC HD2 Arrives March 24 on T-Mobile

An image was posted on the ppcgeeks forum that shows the alleged date for the HTC HD2 to launch on the T-Mobile network in the US. The date shown on the image says we can expect the phone on March 24. No other information on the HD2 is provided other than it being Windows mobile based.

From what we learned recently, it seems like the HTC HD2 might come with some extra RAM and ROM which some say could be a preparation for Windows Mobile 7 although other hidden memory was recently found on other versions of the phone. It will be interesting to see if the T-Mobile version of the HD2 is the same as others when launched. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 Appears to have Hidden RAM

Last week we reported that the HTC HD2 going to the T-Mobile network in the US had a little extra RAM. This led to beliefs that the Windows Mobile 7 update would be going to the US T-Mobile versions but not to other HD2 users across the globe. However, a bit of investigation in to other HD2’s with the lower amounts of RAM has revealed that they might actually have the extra 128MB sitting dormant waiting for a firmware update to open it up.

The details were found by the guys on the XDA-Developers forum who found a leaked ROM/Radio upgrade where the hidden RAM was unlocked. [Read more…]

T-Mobile US HTC HD2 to get More RAM/ROM?

The HTC HD2 came with 512MB of flash ROM which doesn’t help the device run as smoothly as it potentially could. This morning it was spotted that the T-Mobile version of the HTC HD2 in the US would actually come supplied with 1GB of ROM and an extra 128MB of RAM.

It is unclear at the moment why the T-Mobile version will have more memory but some are saying it is to do with the upcoming Windows Mobile 7 launch which has the bar set at 1GB for the minimum spec. If this is the case and there is a 1GB minimum WM7 spec then does this mean the US T-Mob version of the HD2 is the only one out of the range that will get the WM7 upgrade? It’s hard to say at the moment until official announcements are made. [Read more…]

A couple of times last year a few bits of information were leaked about the possibility of the HTC HD2 getting the Windows Mobile 7 update when it becomes available. From what we understand the WM7 launch isn’t going to be any time soon and will likely be towards the end of the year.

HTC HD2 to get Windows Mobile 7 Update in Russia

Back in November we came across a rumour that the HTC HD2 was to get a Windows Mobile 7 upgrade sometime in 2010. Although nothing is set in stone yet HTC in Russia have posted on Twitter that the HD2 will get a WM7 update sometime in the future. The tweet also says that only the HD2 will get the update.

What it doesn’t mention is if the update is for all HD2’s world wide, or just relating to those within Russia.

No release dates are known at the moment for WM7 that I know of so it’s unclear when the firmware update will be made available. [Read more…]

Tekken 3 runs on HTC HD2

The HTC HD2 is capable of running the FPSECE which is a Playstation emulator for pocket PC’s and Windows Mobile devices. As the HD2 is a Windows Mobile device the emulator fully functions quite well.

The video below shows Tekken 3 running on the HD2 and from what I see it runs very smoothly. Some excellent updates have been created for the FPSECE emulator which allow Bluetooth controllers to function with the HD2 as well as it utilizing the multi-touch features of the phone. [Read more…]

Rumor: HTC HD2 to get Windows Mobile 7 Update

voadafone-htc-hd2MSMobiles have received some information indicating that the HTC HD2 will be upgradable to Windows Mobile version 7 when launched. The source also mentioned that it will be an official update rather than a hacked together version.

There is nothing backing this information up at the moment, although it doesn’t particularly sound out of place as the HD2 I suspect meets all the requirements of that operating system.

According to MSMobiles, the information will not be officially announced until Microsoft officially announced the new operating system. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 Availble for Free on Some O2 Tariffs
