Nokia Nuron 5320 Announced on T-Mobile

Nokia and T-Mobile have officially announced the Nokia Nuron 5320 mobile phone. The handset will cost $69.99 and for that price you get a 3.2 inch touchscreen that has a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels in a 16:9 wide aspect ratio.

The Nokia Nuron is in a candybar form factor and connects to GSM/EDGE networks at 850, 900, 1800 or 1900 MHz as well as WCDMA at 1700/2100MHz.

A two megapixel camera is included and the software allows for 3X digital zoom as well as video recording. The phone has GPS built in and allows Ovi Maps navigation to function (Nokia’s new free navigation application). [Read more…]

Nokia Ovi Maps heads to Alpine Car System

Alpine have announced plans to partner with Nokia to integrate Ovi Maps in to their in-car head units. The new “connected technology” is being called Terminal Mode and will bring navigation that uses NAVTEQ maps in to cars.

As well as bringing free satellite navigation in to vehicles the new systems also make use of widget-based services that also bring entertainment such as movies and MP3 audio to cars. Other features include weather reports as well as being able to use the phone within as an actual phone to make and receive calls.

The possibilities don’t end there either as the device will have a GPS for tracking purposes along with data connectivity the system will be able to keep track of fuel stations near by allowing you to quickly find the cheapest place to fill up. Also by interfacing the car with the computer the fuel levels and engine status can also be tracked allowing you to have all details of your car in the one location. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini Pro Announced

Sony Ericsson have announced their latest phones in the Xperia X10 range. The new versions are called the Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro. Each of the phones are compact versions of the larger Xperia X10.

The X10 mini is a touchscreen device while the X10 mini pro features a touchscreen, but also a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Each of the new X10 mini’s runs the Google [GOOG] Android operating system. Each of the phones include the Sony Ericsson Timescape application which puts all information in one place allowing users to see at a glance any text messages, missed calls, IM’s and Facebook/Twitter updates all in one place.

For music, each phone features the infinite button that connects the phone up to a music store and YouTube to get the music you want to listen to. [Read more…]

HTC Desire Announced – Going to Orange in UK

HTC have also announced the HTC Desire today. Also, Orange UK have announced that they will be rolling the phone out over here in the UK.

The HTC Desire is another Android based phone. It runs the Android 2.1 OS and is powered by a Snapdragon 1GHz processor from Qualcomm.

The HTC Desire is 3G+ enabled allowing it to connect at the fastest speeds possible on Orange’s network. Other features on the phone include a GPS sensor, a gravity sensor, digital compass, 512MB of memory that can be expanded with up to a 32GB microSD card.

The screen on the HTC Desire measures 3.7 inches and is in WVGA format. The screen is capacitive and has an anti-fingerprint screen coating to prevent marks saying on the screen that normally plague touchscreen devices. [Read more…]

HTC HD Mini Announced

The HTC HD Mini was announced at MWC today and is a Windows Mobile 6.5.3 device that has a 3.2 inch HVGA screen.

The phone it’s self is described as being a scaled down version of the larger HTC HD2 but with a smaller screen and more capable of being carried around.

The HTC HD Mini seems to focus more on design as the promo video below shows emphasis on design features which oddly enough, seem to revolve around the 4 screws that hold the phone together as well as having bright yellow innards for some reason. [Read more…]

LG Mini GD880 Announced

Bear with us for the next 30 minutes or so as several new handsets have been announced over at MWC, three of which are from HTC although this first one is an LG handset. First off is the LG Mini GD880 which claims to be the worlds first 3 way sync feature phone… we’ll explain what that means shortly.

The LG GD880 Mini is a phone measuring just 10.6mm in depth and weighs just 99 grams. The LG 3-Way Sync service is called LG Air Sync and allows mobile phones to sync continuously with their home computer so that when data is uploaded to one device, it is automatically backed up on the other device over the internet. Files that could be included in the LG Air Sync are photos, video clips, phone books, celendars to name a few.

“We live in an information-oriented society with vast amounts of data and content scattered all over the place. Because of this, one of the major battles in the future mobile market is likely to be in the data management technology industry, focusing on seamless access among different devices,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We have developed the LG Mini, which offers technological integration with its unique LG Air Sync service, in response to this trend.”

HTC HD2 on T-Mobile

T-Mobile have officially announced that the HTC HD2 is heading to their network in the US. Rather than being a traditional HD2 branded by a carrier, this particular model will have what T-Mobile call “a never-before-seen mobile experience” to those in the US.

What that means is subscribers to T-Mobile who pick up a HD2 will have access to several entertainment features that are pre-installed on the device. This includes a Barnes & Noble eReader that gives you access to more than a million eBooks, newspapers, magazines etc…

Blockbuster on Demand is also pre-installed and allows users to download movies on to their phone. MobiTV is also included that installed that brings a number of channels including MTV, NBC, Comedy Central and ESPN to the HD2. [Read more…]

Samsung I8520 Halo Projector Phone Announced

Samsung have unveiled another phone called the Samsung I8520 Halo Projector Phone. This comes alongside the Samsung Wave that we just mentioned a few moments ago.

The I8520 Halo has a 3.7 inch WVGA Super AMOLED display (similar to what the Wave has in that there is no motion blur on films and it has a crisp display showing as close to true life colours as currently possible). It also has an 8 megapixel camera along with a VGA camera on the front. It can capture 720p video at 30 frames per second and has plenty of wireless connectivity in allowing it to connect up to Bluetooth devices as well as 802.11b/g/n devices. Assisted GPS can also be found inside and for storage it comes with 16GB of internal which can be expanded by using a microSD card. [Read more…]

Samsung Wave Unveiled

Samsung have created a new phone called the Samsung Wave. The Wave uses the new Bada OS and is actually the first device to utilise this operating system.

The Samsung Waves comes with a 1GHz processor along with a 3.3 inch WVGA Super AMOLED touchscreen display that can show 800 x 480 pixels. The Super AMOLED screen claims to have no motion blur, be ultra crisp and true to the original colours that it represents on-screen. The quick 1GHz processor allows for HD video to be played back smoothly as well as applications also run smoothly. We’ve seen how 1GHz processors perform in the past on other various devices and have definitely seen an increase in performance when used over slower 500 – 600MHz CPU’s. [Read more…]

Acer Liquid e Android Phone Unveiled

Acer have announced their latest Acer Liquid e phone. The device will run the latest Google [GOOG] OS Android 2.1 (aka Eclair) and be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm.

The Acer Liquid e Android phone has a 3.5 inch high definition screen that is capacitive touch allowing good quality images and video to be displayed. Plenty of connectivity can be found on the Liquid e with wireless 802.11b/g being supported along with Bluetooth 2.0 and HSDPA, HSUPA and GSM/EDGE.

RAM and ROM on the device is set at 512MB and 256MB respectively. The camera has a 5 megapixel sensor although no flash is mentioned. [Read more…]

Nokia N87 AMOLED Camera Phone Details Leaked – Rumour

Yesterday we mentioned a new Nokia N series phone that was rumoured to be launching or at least unveiled at MWC this month. The phone was spotted as the Nokia N8 although perhaps the N8 was referring to this Nokia N87 smartphone as the specs look very similar.

The Nokia N87 is said to have a 12 megapixel camera built in that is capable of capturing images at 720p. It uses Carl Zeiss optics and has a Xenon flash along with night viewing. The processor powering the Nokia N87 is believed to be a 600MHz ARM Cortex 8 processor.

Wireless is built in to the phone which is expected to be 802.11b/g and perhaps n also. An A-GPS chip is also built in allowing for location based services as well as navigation to be used on the device. An FM radio transmitter is to be found in the phone also. For storage it is expected to have either 16GB or 32GB onboard. [Read more…]

Motorola Devour Launching Soon

BGR managed to get hold of some details related to the launch dates of the Motorola Devour. The Devour will be launching on February 25th on indirect channels at authorised distributors and the following month on March 15th to all channels. Pricing in this instance is not known due to Verizon (who will be the carrier) not listing prices on the leaked documents.

A number of sources have mentioned to BGR that the price point is expected to be $99 for the smartphone thoughwhich is not a bad price if it happens.

Motorola Devour Technical Details

The Motorola Devour has a 3.1 inch touchscreen that has a HVGA resolution displaying 320 x 480 pixels with 65K colours as well as a slide out QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the left side of the screen. For connectivity the Devour has Bluetooth v2.0+EDR and supports the usual headset, handsfree, stereo, phonebook and Audio/Visual remote control profiles. Wireless is also included that is compatible with 802.11b/g networks. GPS can also be found in the device providing location based services. [Read more…]
