Ciphone C9 iPhone Clone can Dual-Boot OS and WM6.5

The Ciphone C9 is a clone of an Apple iPhone. The C9 can dual boot in to OS or Windows Mobile 6.5 and comes with quite a few decent features such as a GPS unit, 2 Megapixel camera, a choice of 4GB or 8GB of storage, GPS, G-Sensor, dual compass, WiFi and EDGE as well as a 3.5 inch touchscreen.

A full run down of the specifications can be found below which show that it’s actually a decent and capable phone. However, we are unsure of the build quality and if it meets that of the iPhone. Also with it running OS or WM6.5, we are not sure how good they are on the device and if it runs quick enough to make the user experience good enough. Chances are it will be a little buggier than the iPhone. [Read more…]

Apple File TouchScreen Patent for Next Gen iPhone and Mac-Tablet

A new patent was published yesterday morning that shows an insight what Apple could be coming up with for the next few months. The title of the image above indicates that the next gen iPhone could have an advanced touchscreen. Also the patent indicates that iPod Touch and MacBooks as well as a MacBook tablet device are also to be included in this.

‘Apple’s patent generally relates to displays having pixels that include capacitive elements, and more particularly to displays in which capacitive elements of the pixels that form part of the display system that generates an image on the display also form part of a touch sensing system that senses touch events on or near the display.”

Sony XBR11, XBR12 and OLED Screens Leaked

sony-xbr11A leak shows that Sony are to launch a new range of TV’s that will probably go on display at CES in 2010 in just a few weeks time. Amongst the new TV’s is a new OLED screen that is a new model from the XEL-1 that was a 3mm thick, 11 inch OLED screen launched last year. As of now it is unknown what size of screen the new OLED TV will be. I’d expect it to be a larger screen to perhaps compete with the new 15 inch LG OLED screen.

Also a new HDTV called the Sony KDL-XBR12 series has been mentioned that uses “high range advanced LED RGB” backlighting to function allowing for blacker blacks due to being able to dim certain parts of the screen individually. [Read more…]

Swordfish Net 102 Dual-Processor Netbook

swordfish-net-102-netbookThe Swordfish Net 102 is a dual-processor netbook computer. Rather than having the traditional single Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, this thing has two of them.

The Swordfish netbook has a 10.2 inch screen, a 160GB hard drive and a nice 2GB of RAM. However, it only has a puny 3 cell battery to power it. Not only is the small battery used for powering the two side by side processors, it also is needed to power the built in 3G radio that allows it to connect to the internet over a mobile network. Transparent OLED Screens Revealed

transparent-oledRecently at a show in Tokyo a Philips were showing off some transparent OLED displays. The screens were capable of letting about 70% – 75% light through when switched off.

The idea is great as it could turn any window in to a display. OLED’s tend to be very thin due to no backlight being needed as each individual pixel can be lit up a different colour with it’s own light source. Unfortunately there are no details on how the transparency is achieved but it is expected that the setup will probably be similar to current non transparent versions that we see around. [Read more…]
