Amazon could be using two-finger touch technology when it launches its first tablet devices. The reasons for this are due to cost savings. Both the iPad and various Honeycomb tablets each use 10 finger touch technology allowing for more interaction with the tablets, but Amazon may have decided that two is enough to use most functions on the device.

Amazon is likely to be launching two new tablets by the end of this year. The two tablets are codenamed Coyote and Hollywood with Coyote being the entry level tablet which will utilise a Dual-Core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor inside. Moving on to Hollywood, it is expected that Amazon will use a quad-core chip called the NVIDIA T30 “Kal-El”.

AGC has created new glass that measures just 0.1mm thin. The glass can be used for either OLED or TFT-LCD screens.
Alkali-free glass, composed mainly of silicon dioxide, boron oxide and aluminum oxide, is free of alkaline elements such as sodium and potassium, and is used widely as substrates for TFT-LCD and OLED.

Apple has announced the iPad 2 at an event held earlier today. New features include a couple of cameras, dual-core processor, new design and a fancy new case/cover.
Just like the previous first gen iPad, the iPad 2 comes in three capacities of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB as well as two options of each which is WiFi only or WiFi and 3G.
The new iPad is now slimmer, lighter and smaller and measures 9.5 inches tall, 7.31 inches wide and has a depth of 0.34 inches. Rumors were quite correct in the positioning of buttons, microSIM slot and also got it right about the cameras. [Read more…]
HTC Pyramid Rumor – Dual Core Superphone Coming to T-Mobile

Details of a new phone from HTC have leaked. This new device is codenamed the HTC Pyramid and is expected to run a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The processor is from Qualcomm and is the MSM8260. We also hear that the device will have a 4.3 inch qHD display.

iPad 2 1.2GHz Dual Core CPU Rumored

More details of the iPad 2 have leaked out in the last couple of days. This time, the rumors/leaks revolve around the screen, processor and the size of the tablet.
The first rumor hints at Apple opting for a 1.2GHz dual core processor. The processor will be the Cortex A9 and as well as having the dual core processor, hints at it having an Imagination Technologies SGX 543 dual core GPU have also been mentioned. Samsung has confirmed that two new Galaxy S class devices will be launching at MWC 2011 next month.
The first is the Samsung Galaxy S 2 smartphone and the other is the next generation Samsung Galaxy Tab. Although the devices will be launching at MWC, we wont actually get to use them till later on this year, perhaps at a guess, closer to the year mark of when each originally launched. [Read more…]
LG Optimus 2X Dual Core Android Smartphone Announced

LG has announced the LG Optimus 2X. The Optimus 2X runs a 1GHz dial-core processor (NVIDIA Tegra 2) and has a 4 inch WVGA screen. Other features include 8GB of memory that can be expanded a further 32GB by using a microSD card.
On the back is an 8 megapixel camera and on the front, a 1.3 megapixel camera. HDMI mirroring is available on this device and it is capable of playing 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 content. [Read more…]

Engadget managed to get hold of some pictures showing an upcoming LG smartphone. The new device has a dual-core Tegra 2 chip inside along with the ability to capture 1080p video thanks to its 8 megapixel camera.

@eldarmurtazin is a fairly reliable source when it comes to new smartphones. One of the latest tweets he send out mentioned that he had the chance to look at both the Sony Ericsson Anzo and a Samsung Galaxy 2 smartphone.
The Sony Ericsson Anzo was said to be “nice” but he then went on to say that the Galaxy 2 was technically advanced and hinted at it being a dual-core device. [Read more…]
LG Pad with 8.9 Inch Screen Landing Q1 2011

The image above (and larger below) shows a new tablet device called the LG Pad. The LG Pad has an 8.9 inch screen and from what we understand, it will run the next generation of Android operating systems (perhaps the next-next gen as in Honeycomb).
A senior official at LG clarified that Honeycomb would be installed on the tablet device and that the OS has been described as a tablet PC version. [Read more…]
