Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 Seen Running Android 2.2

Yesterday, we came across a video of the Samsung Galaxy Tab being used on a train in Australia. The tablet seen in Sydney was the seven inch version of the yet to be announced tablet device.

More pictures have been revealed of the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000. We believe this to be a separate model due to different language seen on the screen. The device is said to have a 1024 x 600 resolution screen along with a 3.2 megapixel camera. The case is made of a lightweight plastic. [Read more…]

Archos 32 Android PMP Spotted

Amazon has uploaded a pre-order page for the Archos 32 Android PMP. Details of the device are also included which reveal the device has a 3.2 inch screen with a 400×240 resolution.

Other features include WiFi, 8GB of onboard storage as well as a web-browser and multi-touch support. A camera is also included allowing photos to be captured whilst on the move.

As for codec support, it covers quite a large variety of audio which includes MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, OGG, and FLAC. [Read more…]

HTC Desire Android 2.2 Update for Vodafone Users Landing Today

Late last week we heard from Vodafone that the HTC Desire Android 2.2 update would be pushed out starting August 23. Well, today is August 23 which means that all Vodafone UK HTC Desire users should start getting a notification that a new OTA update is available.

One thing to note is that not all devices will be updated today as Android 2.2 will be rolled out over the next 10 days or so to users. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy S Stock Android 2.1 Update Available – Unofficially

It is possible to run a stock Android 2.1 firmware on a Galaxy Samsung S. Reasons for wanting to do this include getting rid of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface which a number of people don’t like.

The Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.1 update isn’t official though. It’s actually a modified version from the official Google [GOOG] Android updates and unfortunately doesn’t allow all features of the phone to work just yet.

Android App Revenue of a Developer Detailed

If you have ever wondered how much an Android app developer can make, Arron La has decided to detail his earnings from an Android app that he created in February 2009.

The app in question costs $0.99 and is called Advanced Task Manager. What the app does is allows Android users to kill tasks and services that stay running even when a particular app has been closed down.

‘Advanced Task ManagerĀ is an Android application I created in February 2009. At that time, it was needed mainly to kill running services that a number of applications spawned but never ended. Some of these services would start at boot time and remain running indefinitely, causing slowdowns on the phone.

Pocketbook Android Powered e-Reader Incoming

Pocketbook has announced five new eBook Readers that will be launched at IFA this September.

The new Pocketbook devices include 2 entry level devices called the ProBook 602 and the 902. The next up is the ProBook 603 and 903. The 60X devices each have six inch screens while the 90X devices have 9.7 inch screens. [Read more…]

Motorola DROID X Android 2.2 Unofficial Update Taken Off Line

Last week, MyDroidWorld managed to obtain the Motorola DROID X Android 2.2 update. The update wasn’t the final version, but was uploaded to a server for users to download and install.

This update has now been taken off line as Motorola has sent a cease & desist to MyDroidWorld telling them to take it off line, which they did.

Motorola Droid X Android 2.2 Update Unofficially Available

The Motorola Droid X Android 2.2 update has leaked out from what My Droid World report.

According to the My Droid World forums, the update is an actual leak of an upcoming OTA update for the DROID X. That link just posted provides all the instructions needed to run it yourself although keep in mind that this isn’t an official update and you should read all the details and proceed with caution. Vodafone HTC Desire Android 2.2 Update Lands August 23

Vodafone has announced that the HTC Desire Android 2.2 update will be made available this coming Monday August 23rd.

The update will follow along the path of other updates in that HTC Desire users will receive a notification on their smartphone telling them that an update is available. Vodafone will be pushing out the update in phases over about a 2 week period. [Read more…]

Stumbleupon iPhone and Android Apps Launch

Stumbleupon is a service that lets you give a thumbs up or thumbs down to webpages. The process usually involves installing a toolbar and then browsing around websites you come across each day, or have a suggested web page pop up for you to rate. If you like it, you give it a review and if not you thumb it down. It might sound quite boring, but you certainly come across a lot of interesting content whilst stumbling and it’s easy to spend time each day just voting on pages.

Android Honeycomb Arriving After Gingerbread

We have already seen a few details on the next version of Android. That version will be Android 3.0 codenamed Gingerbread. Gingerbread is a big step up for Google [GOOG] who is also believed to be creating that version as tablet friendly.

Looking beyond that it is believed that the version after that could be either 3.1 or 3.2, will be named Android Honeycomb. TechRadar has been contacted by multiple sources who confirmed that the next version will be Honeycomb. It isn’t known just yet what additions that will bring over Gingerbread. What could happen with this version is some major polishing up of the 3.0 release as in optimising for speed, enabling a few new features and making a better experience. iPhoDroid is a project that puts the Android operating system by Google [GOOG] on to the iPhone from Apple [AAPL].

The iPhoDroid software transfers all the necessary files to your iPhone whilst keep iOS in tact so you can switch between operating systems.
